Personally I go for two of the E series. The ED, especially the XR 6. and the EL. I voted EL only because I own one :hihi:

In my humble opinion, the EA rear light clusters aren't as attractive as the EB/ED's. I really disliked the wavey outlines of the rear light clusters on the EF/EL as well. The fronts weren't very attractive either. I think the stylists lost the plot with the EF, which I suspect is one of the reasons the Holdens started to dominate sales around the same time.
Even though the NRMA recommends the latter two Falcon models as safe second-hand car buys, I suspect the ED is every bit as good, if not better, but it had a very short run and may have been overlooked by them. Someone even told me Ford deliberately pulled the ED run short because they were *too* good! Choice magazine's reliability comparison of 90's and late model cars brought this point out. The ED was found to be the highest rating E-series Falcon and the second most reliable big Australian car overall, only 2 percentage points behind the leader, the VS Commodore. The ED was ahead of the VR Commodore, the other car the NRMA recommended along with the VS as Holden alternative second-hand best-buys. Although I think the grilles on EDs aren't as perdy as those on the EA/EBs, the EDs reliability easily gives it the edge over the flakey earlier models and is therefore my pick of these cars. I even put my money where my mouth is and bought an ED. I'm also pleased to see that a majority of the voters here agree with me. Go you good thing; go the ED! Correction, the ED is 4 percentage points behind the VS. The EL is a further point behind, while the EF is behind by another 2 points again! Here's a link to the article:
http://www.choice.com.au/viewArticle...id=100008&p=12 It's a pretty depressing article with all the imported cars and Toyotas well ahead of the traditional big Aussie sixes. I have often wondered if maybe drivers of imported cars and Toyotas treat their cars more gently than Falcon and Commodore owners, who are perhaps more inclined to bush bash their cars and tow trailers with 'em. I dunno but it really is a worry. e Last edited by sanity_assassin; 20-08-2005 at 12:45 AM. |

ed.. for the xr front.. otherwise the chrome grille sticks out too much.. then it'd be EB2.. since, you know, they look heaps different to EDs..
