With the Varoa mite and other issues around the country, we are doing really well, with both European and Australian Native hives flourishing.

Walking along the river - noticed this bit over a week ago:
Couple days later, looking a bit worse we sent a few messages to different people, apparently owner has been contacted - obviously not in a hurry to sort it out.

Sen fscking sensational mate. I love wildlife, and that is a fab pic! Got lots of birds here, but none worth befriending (ring neck doves, Black birds, spoggies etc) as you have done. Good Job! Cheers, One Mad Man

Cav's bird friend is a blue faced Fig bird. We have them visit around our place thankfully as they like the peel the bark back (on River redgums) and eat hiding Huntsman spiders.

Bilge pump probably couldn't keep up to the regular hull leaks and heavy rain deck leaks all in one go. Looks to be a once a beautiful old ex ferry.

Peak beauty!
I would often get customers asking why they couldn't grow hydrangea's, like it was some sort of black art. So what's the secret? Um, just water them.............like, lots! Those large, lush green leaves mean a large surface area for transportation of moisture. That moisture needs to replaced as it's lost, so the plant draws lots of water from the surrounding soil. Don't keep that up to the plant, well the foliage wilts and burns, the flower buds go out in protest. Even so, with 44-degrees predicted tomorrow, I doubt these specimens will get off unscathed as the late afternoon sun appears.

Smollet Street Bridge.
Built in 1888 this bridge is the first steel arch bridge built in NSW and is one of only 2 in the state, the other being the $ydney Harbour Bridge. Botanic Gardens.

Photo taken at Curtain Springs 2013, the local grader driver with his equipment, mobile home & vehicle hitched up like a road train just pulled in for a few days, well-earned rest, this guy covers a big area in NT, so I was told by the owners.
PS: Curtain Spring is top place for a visit or night stay or two, great hospitality from the owners. |

A hand crafted stainless steel knife I bought recently. Used for food preparation of BBQ meats but also for other food related duties
