Looking at A fAIRMONT GHIA EL 1998 with the 4.9litre the one I'm looking at later this week the guy wants $14,300 having done 110,000kms one owner garaged mint condition - or say they say, if this is the case is $14,300 a resnoable price to pay for it?
What price range for something like this should I expect to pay? Thanks |

If its immacculate, then that is an "OK" price to pay for a car like that... but it also depends on its options etc it has. Does it have a body kit, sunroof, premium sound, tinted windows etc??

Well its 30000kms under the average per year (20k X how old it is). A lot of cars you buy that cost more even when its the same model is because of how small milelage its done. ie say you might find one the same everything for $10000 but it has 170000ks on it.

I reckon that isn't too bad of a price. I've been looking around for the same car, but an I6. That is pretty low kilometeres from what I've seen and $14,000 seems just about on the money for a 5L Ghia :
Try http://www.redbook.com.au for "market" prices. Also, I reckon for that money you could just about get an AUII I6 Ghia...if that's your thing. |

It doesn't have the body kit, sunroof or tow bar but it has everything else that was standard ie: premium sound etc. I've been looking at a few cars this is the first V8 I'll actually look at ( wasn't the orginal plan) , but from what I've seen so far this one might be "it" just want to make sure I don't pay a higher price than what it's valued.

They can be had cheaper.
I have noticed a lot of the EL ghias holding their prices (up to 18k) but that can't go on for to long. They will drop quite a bit over the next 12 months (i think) |

Thats a pretty good price. I looked for a good for for 2 months and most of them were shitters so ended up getting an XR8 instead. They aren't easy to find with low k's and in good nick.

That's a good price. The V8 Ghias are pretty rare too. My brother has one, which sounds like the one you're considering, low k's etc, it's a beautiful car, pretty quick too for a stocker. I'd say go for it!

yes 2 mths ago i sold an el xr8 man 5sp with body kit and 12mths rego. 1996 model with 130,000km on it got $14000 for it it was in mint condition with new tyres. i think the fairmonts are a bit cheaper than the xrs though . but the one you are looking at is a 1998 model so price is fair. you pay for what you get remember.
