Default Is this a good deal?

Hi all,

I have left my previous employer and have left my company car behind.
My new company will salary sacrifice Fords but not for 12 months while they sort their stuff out.
So in the mean time I need a run to work and back car, I have found at a dealer in Sydney, a XR6 99 model for $7990 manual red and the brief look that I had was no rust, no resprays 1 owner, however the K's are 205K.
Is if worth taking it for a test drive and buying it?

Anything I should look out for in particular, are the K's too high?

Any help appreciated, I want to go back today to do this if possible.

Thanks in advance.

sounds like a decent deal, you could probably knock the price down $500 if you got it down to $7000 it would be a real bargin. The thing to remember is its series 1 so you miss out on the good brakes and it might not have power windows. The only thing you really need to worry about is making sure that all the electrics work, I have globes blowing themselves very regularly. Other than that check the oil, check the handbook for service details, check for general leaks and condition etc.

seems like a good deal to me,just make sure the services have been done, check the oil and have a look at the radiator bottle and see what condition the water is like.

If it's a VCT XR6 it'll have power windows on all 4 doors, if it's an HP, it'll have it on all four...

Looks like a good price to me, as long as its been looked after... Good luck mate!

Thanks for the replies guys,

Checked out all things mentioned and it came up OK. Only concern is the gearshift as it seems to be sloppy to me but that could just be a T5 thing, as in it just doesn't feel as if it is in gear. It does have a new twin plate heavy duty clutch though, which you need to be like a strong man to operate LOL. I'm soft now after the Fairmont.

Got him down to $7800, but spent most of my time avoiding the warranty he wanted to sell me.

So now I have 2 AU's in the family 1 V8 and 1 inline 6.
Will have to update my web area in AU falcons now to include the new addition.

Also Shannons have come to the party finally and decided to insure both the cars and I saved money, good day alround really, saved money bought a XR6 manual for me!

in my opinion shannons is the best insurance company to deal with.
1. from the cutomer point of view
2. from the smash repairer point of view.
I am both of them and give them the thumbs up!

I'd second that, I have dealt with them from both sides of the fence also and have always found them to be second to none.

Gosh, a little off topic, but I contacted shannons for comp. insurance for my car and they told me they are not competitive with the au xr6's and go look elsewhere! So I did... To the OP, nice find mate. Got any pics?
