Just been taking my AU for a few runs recently and have discovered that the car seems to have a restrictor where once the car reaches a certain speed it brakes itself drops a number of K's in speed then quickly climbs back up to the restricted speed and brakes itself again
does anyone know the easiest way to get rid of this problem? thanks |

edit can remove it.
Of course doing 180kph on a public road is insane to start with.. and by removing the limiter you will find out how much damage a tailshaft can do when it parts company with the car and drops on the road. If you are lucky it will be the rear that breaks first... but most times its at the gearbox that it goes bang.

Removing Speed Restrictor + 180ks + Public Road = Stay Out of Victoria ..
Even if your Drag Racing at the Track , you dont go that fast .. so why take it out ? Its there for safety .. so be safe ! Daniel

Hahhahaha. Get an edit, do a top speed run and post up the results. Thats if the tailshaft doesnt cut through your car and smash the gearbox, lol.

Better yet, tell us when and where you're going to do it, and we'll come and watch it all unfound.
Just a quick question, I heard the speed restrictor has been in place since the EA, is that correct or was it on earlier models? |

Didn't someone post up pictures of an AU that did 192Km/h or something close to that. Sort of looked like a bomb went off under the car.
http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthr...ight=tailshaft Found it. Doesn't seem to be working right now however.

Take it from someone who has been there and gotten caught, doing that sort of speed on a public road is not worth it, I was doing half that speed, and got caught, and am facing min. up to 18 months without my license, and a HUGE fine. The speed limits are there for a reason. |

I say let these morons to a top speed run without the limiter on a nice quiet stretch of road, and let them see the consequences for themselves.....

is the speed limiter only on the 6's? cos from wat i've heard the xr's didnt have it cos the tailshafts where stronger?? and i've got an ex cop car and its seen over 200 so im guessing it has the stronger tailshaft?

sitting here reading this thread is a joy for me because i am one of the young idiots that everyone talks about the only thing is my s3xr8 dosnt have a speed limiter and it does do 220 and i have the photo on the front page of the gold coast paper were some certain white and blue checkered car was on a service road and could only get a side picture of my flying rocket about to lift of at 211kmh so dont believe everyone when you say you will get caught. But on the other hand i dont recommend it in a au I6 unless you have the 2 piece tailshaft installed i have seen the pictures ouch!!

Well , this thread is useless without pics
Dynos i Can deal with , and it must be a thing with the Series 1s but if your doing anything more than 20 over the limit on the roads , you dont deserve your licence . 'Nuff Said

Or ... you have a shorter diff gears in without knowing and still have the standard speedo gear in (hence the weird speedo reading). If it was locked in 3rd in the auto ... there's no chance of it getting anywhere near 200km/h .... unless it's a freak :hihi:
