That seems a bit expensive. Like Cooper69S, mine was around the $600 mark from my mechanic.

I'm pretty sure mine was a new rack, but it only came in at $500, that was done through TyrePower here. Which hose do you need replacing, I got a new High-pressure hose for mine for $120, that wasn't a Ford part but after market, cheaper and better

Is this what you need to spend when the steering creaks a bit?
My steering is a bit on the creaky side and this has kinda put me off :(

Call up a couple of power steering joints from yellow pages and compare, I think that you may be supprised.

I've had one replaced on each of my AUs. Cost was $320 odd each time, using a recoed unit. No complaints with either. One was done in 04, the other in Dec 06.

$1083! I will undercut them by $1, will fly to wherever you are and do the work for you (all same day). Does that tell you if that's a fair price?

$400 for a new rack seems to be a fair price, the hose I bought yesterday at Repco for $90. Whats the go with the flush kit? if there replacing the rack, what do they want to flush for $150?

wheel alignment you can get cheaper than that around $35... fluid flush i bet they will just fill it up when they replace the rack and hose... they will drain just about all the oil out so you will neva no if they flushed it or not cause they will just fill it with new oil.... |

Good answers here. Mine failed in August '06. New one fitted and alignment for $690.00 at Sam Gould Ford Lilydale. I seem to recall being mentioned that the rack was a recall item. Probably too late to do anything about it now.
