Default RBT today & i blow 0.9.

I got pull over today for RBT and i count 1 to 10 and my limit was 0.9 : : :

I don't even drink so i do it again same reading so i tell the officer i don't
drink at all, so he asked me what i do before i said i eat at a place in
Newtown that don't serve beers, spirits or wine.

Then i remember i rinise my mouth with Colgate Savacol Mouth & Throat Rinse
that i carry with me in the car so i show the 2 officers, i then rinse my mouth
with water about 5 times and take another reading it reads zero.

Do the Colgate Savacol Mouth & Throat Rinse and my reading is sky high again,
so guys be careful next time when using a mouth wash or something similiar.

They let me go this time and tell me not to use it about an hour before driving.

Why should you not be able to do something completely legal? One of the many problem with one-size-fits-all policing.

Not to mention that at 0.9% BAC, you'd be very dead.

God knows why it took them a whole hour to work this out.

31% alcohol in mouth washes.
mouth vapours stay for between 10 an 40 minutes. so no real suprise.

It wouldn’t be BAC. This wouldn’t show up on a blood test, so you’d be alright.

Good point, if you're 100% certain you're not over the limit you have the right to request a blood test.

Blood alcohol content, whereas the high reading from mouthwash would be mouth alcohol.

Edit: Olfella bet me to it by a click.

It says u should not do a breathtest (pub machines) until 10 minutes after drinking as otherwisae "mouth alchol will be the contributor".
Clearly ur mouth wash is so strong it gives a 0.9% mouth alcohol reading.
Tip "Don't use it when Driving!"
Ur lucky the cops went for ur explanation as Im sure 90%+ would book u.

they cant book you off a roadside rbt
They have to take you to a station for a secondary test using a more accurate machinge

They can’t book you on the result of the roadside testing machine. They take you into the booze bus (or down to the station) and do a proper breathalyser. This is a lot more accurate, also they usually give you a bit of time, depending if you pass or fail the attitude test and may do it a second time. It’s the result of this test that they use to secure a conviction.

Edit: Neo Nick bet me to it. Geez, I must be slow tonight and I don't even drink. :hihi:

I drink between 10 to 20 cups of coffee everyday and have got the coffee
breath and i just like to keep my breath fresh from the smell when talking to
other people & friends.
That is the reason why i carry it in my car.

LOL, its 1.52am in the morning, you might want to regulate your sleep hours to avoid the need for so much coffee during the day!
