Sorry fellas, I have to vent a little.
Some Friggin moron, who may be not quite right in the head, KEYED both sides of my car at Bunnings in Joondalup (Perth W.A. ) I was in the shopping centre for less than 10 minutes. Not one side but both sides. This car is one of 125 cars made and only goes out on weekends or when I am back from the bush. Hey if I have been a dickweed, have the balls to wait by my car and have a chat. If you have a problem with me (or the car), again wait by the car and have a chat. All this does is make me $100 poorer and jack up the insurance policies for all australians that have insurance. I cannot understand why someone would do this? Are they weak? Are they jealous? Do they even have a car? Please post your responses or feelings on this matter. Cheers, Cop. |

I don't know how people have the guts to key another mans car.
I've felt like doing it to others cars who park on two spots to avoid car dings or block off roads in carparks by parking illegally but I just can't do it. As John Travolta said in Pulp Fiction "You do not mess with another man's automobile....it'd be worth him doing it just to catch him doing it."

Again, have the balls to come see me. All this is doing is upping our insurance rates and making it hard for the young bloke to get insurance for their beloved. For gods sake have the balls to back up your frustration and come and have a chat. It can all be settled over a talk and a hanshake, I am sure of this. |

I know exactly how you feel, because a few days before Christmas, some inconsiderate moron decided to key the passenger side of my car (plus a tiny bit on the drivers rear guard). I've been working hard doing up my car, and this is what happens to it. I know mine's just an EA but it's still my pride and joy, so I was devastated. Sorry to hear about your car. A lot of people who key cars do it for jealousy. While they have nothing personal against the driver, they don't like the fact that people can have such nice cars. Maybe you can see if they have any surveillance cameras in the carpark?

Been there, done that, surveillance cameras including the entrance have been forwarded to the Joondalup police.
Julie, the branch manager was quite simpathetic. As everyone knows, cameras are not the best for positive ID's |

This time last year a guy ****ed on my new car and finished it off by kicking a dent in the door. I had owned the car for less than a week and was so angry i couldn't stop shaking.

it's jealousy mate. happened to me too. they think people dont deserve to drive such cars cause they cant. the problem is . they dont know the effort that goes towards having a car like that. the sad part is . one day the person will realise what he has done . ( when it happens to him or her) and the cycle goes on

The problem is if it is ONE person then I believe that person may be a lost cause. There is something wrong upstairs and he/she cannot communicate with society. I do however, believe by the "keying" this was done by two persons which makes me believe that the person with the gruge/jealousy problem has a low self esteem and needs to have a "helper" to let him carry out his (whatever) problem. If this sounds a little extreme, please put me in my place. Sorry, still venting! |

My previous ute had a nice long and deep scratch down the side when I returned to it parked at the supermarket. I won't say on the forum what I actually think of these scumbags damaging other peoples property/pride and joys. Even if you caught them, they couldn't care less how it affects you, nor would they care about the time and money you have to spend fixing the damage. Hopefully karma will sort them out one day.

Mate, I feel for ya, but you cannot and will not stop senseless criminal damage, and that is what it amounts too, in a public open space unless someone starts talking to local governments to have street/carpark cameras on the network like NSW has at the moment so as to try and capture these offences including muggins /b rapes, wilful damage to property etc.

It's usually immaculate , expensive or rare cars that get keyed or damaged I think. It's gotta be jealousy, low self esteem, they buggered up in life and hate to see others succeed. Scum of the earth these f@#kwits.

In many cases I dont beleive its jealousy as such.
I beleive it is simply: "Look, an expensive car, lets key it.." Pure and simply, they're not doing it for any other reason, but to be rat bags. They're having fun being a menace, causing us hardship. I also have just had my AU keyed, and whats worse, I think I saw the culprits just seconds before it happened. I pulled into 1 of 3 parking spaces infront of a shop. As I was walking into the shop, they were walking out, and gave me a dirty look. A minute or so later I returned to see a scratch running from the top of the boot to the middle of the rear passenger side door. Its not incredibly deep, but its deep enough that a scratch removing cutting compound has only reduced its appearance. I cannot afford to claim on insurance, and its not worth the $450 excess anyway. So now I just have to live with a scratched up car. So although I drive a mass produced car with nothing inherently special about it, I know the anger that you feel, when someone takes it upon themselves to damage your pride and joy for no reason. And dont worry about venting too much mate. Vent away.

sometimes it isn't jealousy cos while at work in a servo I've had 2 of my cars kicked in on the rear quarters and the first was a fairly shagged 91 lancer (so it still carried the dents when i sold it) the other was my 96 fairmont which is fairly tidy but still not amazing

To the OP, I feel for you mate. On New Years eve, a 14YO moron ( who was with 18 mates and girls) decided to throw a rock at my car, hitting the front passenger window damaging it, as well as the seal and the black panel part next to the window. If it had smashed through my mate in the passenger seat would have some serious head damage. Lucky only $400 damage, and no paintwork or main body damage. You should have seen them run when I jumped out swearing and throwing my crowbar around! Cops got them though, but no chance of financial re-imbursment they say.Im happy to say goodbye to 2007, finally!

i feel for ya mate, had my nice new BF XR8 keyed down the side as well , regardless of the vehicle its the pride you have in your car and its presentation that hurts , not the financial side , money comes and goes , but a nice car lasts forever.

SOmetimes I think I am being paranoid when I park the furtherest away from a shopping centre entrance that I can and park over 2 spaces. Then you read another story of someone keying a car.
One of these idiots is going to be seriously hurt one day. They'll get caught and the owner will be bigger than them. i know i would give a flogging to anyone I caught doing it to my car

Near the youth centre in my town a group of kids (aboriginals and white trash who think they are gangsters) like to throw rocks at cars.
Nearly hit my car but I swerved. Came back later with mates. I'm really glad it's fairly hard to buy guns in this country. |
