Tried "the workshop" but was ignored bigtime. Shoulda tried here first
I have an AU3 that I bought damaged. Seemed to idle fine, start easy, but had a flat spot on acceleration In the two weeks I've been driving it daily, the miss has gotten worse. Also, it now takes four or five seconds and a pump to start where before it was instant, with no need for pedal Guy at work blamed dirty injectors, but before I pull em out, thought I'd ask here. I have a complete car that I can go the "swap a part at a time" elimination route with, but where to start, and in what order, considering both 1..likelihood as a cause 2..work involved in swapover injectors?....coil pack?....some of the sensors? Help please.......Keith |

spot on buy urself a little spark tester for about 15 bucks, with this you will be able to test the strength of the coils, if u feel fancy remove coilpack and test your primary and secondary circuits for resistance. a coil with less resistance on teh secondary winding can indicate an internal short. also measure the resistance of all spark plug leads with an ohm (multi) meter, if they are all under 15kohm look at spark plugs, is the gap right, correct heat range, is the electrode burnt, are they sutty, etc once all ur ignition components check out fine, check for fuel pressure (both at idle and under load, if fuel pressure drops off you may have a dying fuel pump, check fuel filter on much crap is in it, last but not least fuel pressure regulator, use a pair of pliers to clamp the return line for the fuelrail and do the fuel pressure test again.
