Hi all,
I have insurance with AAMI in NSW and I am looking at putting on extractors and a 2.5 Black cat exhaust. Would this put up my policy cost? (I am slight over 25, well double in fact ) UK :

Called AAMI and spoke ot an accessors. He said given my age and that the car didn't have a turbo or super charger he didn't see any cost impact. Just have to let them know so if the car gets pranged the parts will be replaced for like etc.
So good new for me, bad news for my wallet. Think I'll wait till the exhaust goes. UK

My insurance company would not allow me to undertake defensive driver training in my car, BUT said if I had driver training, it would lower my premium. I asked how do I do it, as you can't use rentals either. They said you have to use a driving schools car....

My premium dropped when I mentioned I had a nudge bar and driving lights ... as it is classed as safety accessories due to where I live ... i thought that was awesome.
This was with NRMA. And as Henri mentioned ... NRMA now say as long as the vehicle is roadworthy they do not mind with mods ... I have all of mine listed on the policy without issues. I do remember though not too long ago ... NRMA were tight when it came to mods ... they have relaxed a lot since (I'd say just to keep a lot of their customers as they were leaving in droves).

i'm 28.. and currently insured with suncorp.. costing me like $800+ per year..
with modifications done to my car.. excess currently sits at $800.. with coming mods it will be well over $1000 so i called around a few places to get quotes... nrma and racq were about the same.. i ended up calling QBE after a friend recommended them.. with the mods i have and more to come... the quote came to $481.. and excess of $450... so i'll be changing insurance companies in the next week |
