Default 2l pinto

As my name suggests i am a starter with escorts, but i would just like to know if there is any difference with a 2litre crossflow and pinto. I havnt yet found anyone that can tell me if there is any difference.

There is no such thing as a 2lt crossflow. There's a 1100/1300/1600 (also known as a crossflow) as opposed to the earlier pre-crossflow Cortina engines.
The pinto is a totally different engine but does share the same gearbox bellhousing bolt pattern. The pinto or OHC engine cam in 1600/2000 and 2.3lt in the USA. The most common ones in Australia are the 2.0lt found in Cortinas from about 1970-82 and Escorts from 1977. This is a belt-driven, overhead cam engine (OHC) as opposed to overhead valve (OHV) crossflow.

well yes there is no such name as a 2ltr crossflow but they are a cross flow design,however only known as a pinto 2ltr.
Just to clear that up.
