I was in Clive Peeters (e e easy) on Saturday and they have Toshiba HD-DVD players for $99.
What is the point as blu-ray has won? For $99 I got a HD-DVD player with 4 movies that is also an up-scaling DVD player and produces the best picture I have ever seen on my TV. AND All the HD-DVD movies are selling for between $8 and $10 so I bought heaps of all the back cattledog titles that I have on povvo DVD+R I will worry about blu-ray later when they drop a bit as they are still scamming $700-1200 for the player (well a good one anyway) and $40-$200 for the discs. Go and grab one while they last..... |

It'd be funny if HD-DVD made a comeback because of all the sales

I might have to look around here to see what's going for cheap. My mums wants a VCR with a DVD player, so instead of buying a new one I'm just going to give her my combo and then get another DVD player as I have no use for the VCR :

I picked up a HD dvd player for 89 dollars at Harvey Norman. This also had 4 dvds free. I went down to Myer and picked up a ton of HD movies for next to nothing. It upscale dvd's amazingly almost as good as the PS3.
Haha its strange to say but now that HD DVD has lost the battle go out and buy youself one its worth it!

Just bought one for $99 at Clive Peeters, after reading this thread. A decent DVD player with HDMI output would cost about the same.
Time to get loads of cheap HD-DVDs.
