Mine are 235/40 all round with SL's. You can go a fair bit wider on the rear but 245's attack your guards unless you get the lip rolled.

I've got 235/40/18 now, but had 245/40/18 before (standard BF XR8 wheel/tyre combo), and had no issues with scrubbing etc at all with either. Width depends a little on brand sometimes apparently, all 235s are not created equal etc etc.

I have 245/40/18 and 265/35/18 without any rubbing.
It doesn't matter what diameter the rims are anyway, what's important is the tyre/rim width, and rim offset. Rick.

lip the gaurds and you'll be fine. I have SSL's in mine that i reset another inch lower and with my old 18 with 245-40-18's didnt scrub. Now i have 20's and still doesn't scrub. Make sure you roll the gaurds though

I'm running ultralows/SSL's with 18's and 40 series rubber...and haven't rolled the guards, and it hasn't rubbed yet.
And living out in the sticks some roads are a bit worse for wear...
