Default Advice on Lowering AUII Wagon

Hey Guys,

Tried a quick search but couldnt find any definates so before investing in some adjustable rear leaves from Bursons (That i really cannot justify) to lower the back of the Missus wagon AUII 6. Has anyone been there done that with lowering blocks on the rear end ?

Wagon has 17 * 8 inch wheels with 235/45/17 tyres all round

Aim dropping all round by 1.5-2 inches (Yes needs to stay high for clearance on shitty local roads and driveways when all 8 seats loaded).

Can i use "Off the shelf lowering block suit ... Falcon rear ?

If so how low/thick in the block can i go before encountering these shock fouling issues i have been warned about ?

Last but not least fronts Kings lowered (Just Low not Super low) i was thinking but any feedback greatly welcomed.
And a set of Monroe shocks all round (Again let me know if the is a better option.)

I used Pedders lowered leaves and front 'touring' springs on my old AUII wagon. It had BA XR 17 x 8's on it.
Only pic I could find was the one of it in the car yard after I traded it in!


Found another one, but it still had the factory 16's on it. The car trailer was empty, so ride height is about the same. Clearance was not a problem and most of the driving was country stuff.

With a 17" or 18" x 8" wide rim, you can use a 38mm (1.5") lowering block; I had them on my wagon. If you go 9" rim or a diameter less than 17", you can only use a 22mm lowering block (7/8").

The combo you want to put on sound good; there's always better shocks around, but how much do you want to spend? For a full set of monroes, you'll pay around the $400 mark, front springs around $150 odd and lowering blocks are around $90 the set (I used the fulcrum ones, IIRC, but whiteline also make a set - they are the same ones as used on EF/EL wagons, but limited to 38"" block only).

You might be surprised that 1.5" lowering blocks will actually drop the car a bit more than that (yeh, I couldn't work it out either).

Throw up some pics once the work is done (before and after shots are always good).

ive got 1inch nolathane blocks in the rear of mine..i reakon there are fine havnt had any drama,s with it....i think youl find 2inch blocks are too much...ill try and dig up a pic of mine for ya..

Thanks Guys,
Cant get over how much the look of the car is improved with just that small drop in ride height, Great looking wagon in the pics by the way.
I am going to call by the local suspension joint in the next couple of days for some $$$ and see how soon it will all happen from there, May even get sneaky and do the rear first as that may level it up a bit.
Will post some before pics as soon as i can clean the old girl up,
Tassie weather this time of year not friendkly to car detailing...
