Was interesting watching ACA last night, they have done some comparisons between using toll roads and not using toll roads. They started in Frankston with two Ford XR6 and the goal was to reach Melbourne markets. One car went via Eastlink and the Monash (paid about $10.00) the other car went along beach road (paid $0) No surprise there but the biggest surprise was that the car that went along beach road travelled less distance, at a greater average speed and arrived 10 minutes earlier than the car that made use of the toll roads. Both cars left at the same time and travelled in peak hour traffic

That was until ACA blabbed about it, today there are 12,635,487,857,645,343 cars all saving $10 and the tollway is empty

Yep its all part of an evil plan to
a) show how good our toll roads are (now that no one uses them) b) Annoy beach rd residents They did the same with other states and found other states had the similiar issues

I swear you lose an IQ point for every minute spent watching A Current Affair or Today Tonight.
For any current affairs or news the ABC has the only shows with the slightest skerrick of credibility.

it is a bit of an unfair test for the Melbourne one the Monash has road works and they mentioned there was an accident, however that brings up the point , the toll ways are supposed to be the fast way around town .....on days when its a car park (regardless of road work should) we be paying toll`s , 1 vote here for NO, at least that way if traffic flow is partially stunted due to road works they might pull their finger out, the guy they interviewed (RACV i think) mentioned the design of our freeways was out dated before they were completed, ie they should have had more lanes to start with.......stating the obviouse there.

lol dont bother coming to sydney! tolls on every motorway.. and the M2 of a morning is horrible after 7:20am coming from pennant hills - i still cant understand why they made it 2 lanes each way and 3 lanes in some parts then back to 2 lanes.. just creates bottlenecks and slows the flow down - just as bad as the pacific highway

most motorways aren't owned by the government. they build them and when they realise they were built dumbly(ie what i said above), made a mistake, spent too much money with not enough return and then they sell them

Well yeah, plenty of regional centres will never have toll roads but if Perth ever gets them you can bet your left jewl all the major cities will have them.

That comparison was SOOOOOOOOO bad and biased.
A) There was a car accident on the Monash!! B) They used a road with roadwork’s (and a car accident) C) They used the wrong road D) The Monash does NOT have tolls E) The tolls don't come to $10 for that return trip So lets see that again a trip from an outer suburb to the heart of the city and the "toll car" has roadwork’s, takes the wrong road and an accident and still only arrives 10 mins later for a trip that takes an hour is quite contradictory for the point they are making isn't it?? Imagine if they used A) the right road, B) no roadwork’s or C) no accident and imagine is all you will be doing because they would have NEVER showed it!!! (Ok ok I am breathing again now and my blood pressure is returning to normal lol) |

I believe one of those schlock shows had some sort of super bikini or something on tonight? I was testing my new TV capture card and caught 1/2 a second of it. They *nearly* had me tune in for that.
I'd guarantee that their findings were complete bollocks though. How anyone can regularly watch that crap is a mystery to me. |

Where would I move to?
I was thinking somewhere outside of Australia, Pack my ute in a sea container and head to a small medierainian island or something. Cypres sounds nice. After the results from our state election it looks like that major projects that the previous Government had promised (including new transport infrasructure) will be scrapped for funding to regional areas. Thus in my eyes the only way for these new roads to be built is to privatise them...Looks like the new government has "taken its toll"

1,there is tolls on the monash after toorak rd exit which is called city link 2,there is always a accident on the monash in peak hour 3,$10 maybe a understatement for a return trip 4,even if the the rd works and accident wern't a factor id say it would be level pegging and id rather keep my $10
