Default Territory facelift.. FINALLY!

Looks like Ford Oz have realised that if they want to keep people interested in the Terrier they need to freshen it up a little after 5 years.
Seems theres all new front metal in new year and major revamp in 2010/11

2010/11 is as good as never..... so much can change in 2-3 years.

Territory will have a facelift in the first qtr next year. That is common knowledge. What is a secret is whether it gets the orion motor and dash. My fingers are crossed that it will. The car needs some life breathed into it.

Sure I can accept that. Nobody wants anyone losing their job, especially in the current financial climate.

The facelift is common knowledge, as you say, in the Tezza forum.

As to your other points;

My tip is no to the Orion engine upgrade (though hopefully it'll get the long awaited diesel) and yes to the dash. Rather pointless if it doesn't IMHO.

I guess we'll find out next year.

I really don't think there will be a diesel territory until the v6. We can all thank Tom Gorman and the horse he rode in on for that.

I dont work for ford or anything, I found the info on news ltd "carsguide" site.

Cant find artical now and it had no pics.. but it said front heavily revised (looks like Kuga) FG-ish dash, but the rear unchanged (typical ford never revise rear of wagons!)
FG engine.

FG engine.
It makes sense to update the motor otherwise engine plant is running two different series. The reason the front of the car is changed and not the rear is due to cost. A new front bumper and bonnet can dramatically change the appearance of a car. Whereas to change the rear you need to design a new liftgate and rear qtr panels. Thats 6 different stampings. So add up 6 parts @ 4 dies each part x 100k each die and then you have a $2.4 million bill plus the R & D and you also have to change the tooling at Broady's to accept the new shape panels.

Already running 2 different engines now, and that won't change as FG engines can't go into Territory due to emissions laws. No engine upgrades can be performed after July 31 2008 unless they are Euro 4 compliant, which the FG engine isn't. It only got fitted to the FG because it was released before that date.

I agree with Gobes32. If the render that Fordmuscle1965 posted is accurate (and given the FG's front end treatment, it has every reason to be in the ballpark) then all FoMoCoAus need to do is replace the rear bumper and tail lights on the rear.

I thought that it was only going to be a "light" facelift. They are only doing the front, a few little bits and not touching the rear much

kind of looks like the Dodge Journey a little. That's a decently equipped SUV too.
Hope the Territory facelift is a little more than that.

That was done by one of our members - The Stylist. Here is the link:

The original post: http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11226736

It would be good if people sourced where they got their information or drawings from, so that the original designer gets due credit.

Totally agree. The Stylist (creator of many CGI's) should be sent to work at FORD immediatley. Sack 10 of the design team and give all the salaries to him

The territory already has had a "light" facelift.

New rear can be changed with just a bar and lights, some "fg" styled lights, and a bumper with some FG language in it.

That render is nice, the front bar looks very good.
