Seen it a million times. IMO its hideous. just a sedan with a wleded up back door and an extended front door. All out of proportion,

If Troy and Clay Hillier had taken their tools to a BA 4 door it would be much sexier than that.

First off I do not understand the higher roof line, what other car manufacturer says "here is our new sports model, it has a higher roof"?

Also I think the C pillar is all wrong for a sports coupe, to similar to the sedan. Think of the old XA-XC sedans and coupes, the coupe had a more gentle slope down to the boot line, monaros are the same. To me it does look too much like the "weld the rear doors and extend the front" design to me. Not a true coupe, just a 2 door sedan.

Dam it!! you beat me to it!!

When Ford and Holden built the XA-XC/HT-HG (and HQ) Coupes the roof line followed through to the boot, following one of these on the road you knew it was a Coupe and not some chopped 4 door. Holdens last effort of the Monaro was woeful and this aint much better.

I love my old XA Coupe even though i keep cracking the skull getting into it, if you want a high roofline on a Coupe buy a VW Beatle....

It's been around for years... I'd say you were in the minority though. It just looks like a BA that's had a door welded up. Far from being a coupe, really.

Unless it has a shorter wheel base like a late model Monaro its a waste of time!

Unless its packing some serious mucsle and a decent looking kit, is there any real reason to reduce a family sedan to two doors?

None that i can think off!! we have an old HG Monaro with a Big Block 186S all original, and though she is no power house we all love taking her out cause she is a GENUINE Coupe :

I think one of the biggest problems with it is that it really does have an underdone look. A true 2 door version of a pre existing sedan should have the following:

1) Shorter wheelbase.
2) Pillarless doors.
3) Much sleeker and free flowing lines from the A pillar back, in other words from the top of the A pillar to the back of the vehcle, it should make close to a straight line.
4) From the back it should be clearly recognizable as a different body shape
5) It should have a LOWER roof line than its sedan stablemate.

Without these things it's rather pointless. In my opinion anyway.

Well I'm a little surprised they haven't fitted it with lambo doors. I guess it looks silly enough as it is.

The external proportions just don't seem right.

I'll continue to dream of an XB or XC Coupe.

i think it looks great! Sure its not perfect but its not a factory designer 2 door.. once you get over that fact you accept it a bit more..

Yes that is very true, but then it is a lot of compromise for a $90,000 XR8.

A design I made ages ago in Microsoft Paint

I reckon something like that would be a lot tougher. It uses a lot of XA design cues

Agreed.. Would love to see what the Hillier brothers would do with the BA let alone an FG GTE...

Didn't Ford have on display in 99 an AU two door coupe with a twin screw charger? That looked very impressive
