Default Airbag light Code 18 meaning

Hey All,

Does anyone know what seat belt pretensioner Code 18 is referring to?

Is it the passenger or is it the driver? because there is also Code 17 which is the same as code 18 so is one left and one right?

Cheers

Have you checked the little yellow plugs under your seat? Have you had the seats out recently - you may have pinched a wire when putting them back in. Have you checked every fuse?

Mine always flashed after a very big down-pour of rain... Always disappeared after a day or two.

I have figured out that code 18 means that the car is not happy with it raining. I went out this morn and problem is gone lol

I love it when problems fix themselves.

Massive thread grave dig here, but I get the same issue on my AU when it rains sometimes. Stereo also plays up at the same time, it turns on and works OK but no sound comes out of speakers. It is an aftermarket stereo.
Do you know where the water might be getting in? Could it perhaps be leaking onto the ECU (near glovebox?).
Where is the computer or wiring/sensors/relays/fuses etc located in the car that would cause this, so I know where to focus my search?
The car came full of rust, I suspect someone used to back boats into salt water with it, so it doesn't surprise me that these issues are occurring

Thanks for any help

There was a guy not long ago who had to replace his eec and part of his loom, because water was leaking through down onto the EEC, so it is possible.

Where does the water get in? Ideally if I can find that location and fill it up with some sealant it might sort the issue out

Wondering if it could be a blocked A/C evaporator tube, which will start dripping moisture onto the passenger side footwell, which is where the ECU is. On a rainy day the humidity will be near 100% so if you use the A/C for demisting it will be removing a lot of moisture from the air.

When the evap tube blocked in my EL I could hear it gurgling as I took a corner.

This fix was posted by superoo (Ben) a while ago and may be the one referred to a few posts earlier.
