Default indicaters come on when car off

Hello, i'm stumped, got a 99 au, have a intermittant fault, sometimes when i start car, wipers turn on also, when i turn car off, hazards come on, i then turn key to when all lights are on it stops, also when i start car hazards stay on for 3seconds, i have no remotes, ive disconeected battery 3 times overnite, problem goes away for a day. Any ideas?

could be the smart lock playing up, or the connections behind the fuse panals are losse

that's really cool man
yeah we had a cab (99 AU1 also) that had it's smartlock go spastik (damn that's a dog, smartshield is about 4251234 times better) and it got taken away on a flatbed it was berko.

sound more like a problem with the indicator/wiper stalk assembly to me, you should be able to pick one up from a wreckers pretty cheap , if you know how to remove and refit the steering wheel its not much harder. after removing the steering wheel its 3 screws and 1 pug to replace. maybe un click the clock spring first.

iv never heard of smartlock causing wiper issues and you haven't mentioned any problems with you door locks...

the doors do click in and out for a few seconds after the indicaters flash, both indicaters flash at the same time, hmmm, cheers for all the input

Ford believe its a bcm, is that the thing that has stuff to do with smart locks?
Looking at $800 to a $1000 to fix, hmmmm what to do?

you could get one from a wreckers cheaper, but would then have to get ford to program your keys to it...

i fitted a whole AU fairmont dash for $250... just another option...

well took the car to ford, plugged into computer and nothing shows up, hmm, fingers crossed the phantoms gone away

heres an update, went to wreckers, pulled out 2 bcms, what a waste of time, during 99 ford changed the bcm on au 3 times, got the wrong 1, and ford have to programme bcm in, to make things worse, ford dont sell bcms, hmmm gota do the lucky dips at the wreckers

just get all the info off your bcm and take it in with you to match the right one.
