I got my full set of lane seats for around 200... in excellent condition
I've seen sets range from 150-800, depending on condition and whether they're ghia seats or XR leather...

i paid just over $500 for mine, seems to be the average price... you can get several different types.
my favorite would be the set in the sportsman xr wagon out of a AU Fairlane Ghia Sportsman, curtain effect door trims, 10 way power drivers seat with 3 memory presets and power passenger seat, doesnt get much better than that

you can also get 6 way power drivers seat (like mine), plain leather or perforated leather from a XR

I picked up a set out of a Fairmont Ghia with woodgrain door trims and 6-way electric driver's seat in excellent condition for 600 in Perth a few months ago.

I'm pretty sure the LWB rear seat will require some mods to fit SWB.

Cheers,

Ian

I picked up a set of fronts from a wrecker out near Windsor about 6 months ago for $350. He already sold the rear for $150, which was bit of a bugger as I was planning on turning into a couch for the garage.

Hey mate.

Have you got any quotes to get your driver's seat retrimmed rather than hunting for a replacement seat?

hey ian..

No i havent, but a young fella i know works in upholstery and he thinks to get the leather redone, will be quite expensive... forgot to mention mines the leather XRs.

may need to shop around...

he also was of the idea that it wouldnt be that easy to get a good match with the perforated leather etc, especially seeing as the passenger is aged, he said you should get both if youre going to get anything done.

Yeah its a catch 22, recover or find. I like the XR seats they have a high lip on each side of the base.

Fair enough mate. You'll be surprised just how close they may be able to get a match. Might even have some of the original Ford stuff.

Just be mindful that leather is actually not as comfortable as cloth.

Leather has less give than cloth, so is not as soft. Basically it doesn't mould quite as well to your ***.

More importantly, leather is always too hot in summer when you're wearing shorts, it's all sticky.
And in winter it's too bloody cold.

Aside from the look, and it does look very good, I actually prefer to have fabric seats in a car.

YMMV.

this is my first car with leather.. i drive with a seat cover on the drivers side anyway (dusty tradesman)... i find them to be very comfortable and hold the bolster of the sides really well.. and of course, they look the best.

i dont notice too much difference in terms of comfort, but ur legs sticking to leather isnt that ejoyable.

It's not a big difference, just something I do notice, I'm a fussy so and so.

I hate it, both our cars have leather and I'd love to have cloth.
I'm actually thinking of ripping the seats from the purrsoot and throwing cloth in.
(And then storing the leather seats, so don't get any ideas).

So I have gone with neoprene covers (very happy with the look). I swapped over the seat base from the passenger side and got a better back seat from the wreckers. So now I have a spare back with lumber support. Can I swap it for the passenger back?

They look alright, I wonder how they'd go over leather.

What do they look like in the flesh? Cheap and tacky, just average, or pretty decent?

Dude...

They look good. (You can come and see if you like Sox). They are just like wetsuit material, so they give when you sit on them (thats good because I have a big a@se...LOL). They feel slightly warm to sit on but not hot if the car is left out in the sun. The rears look good dn the colour is nice combo with my Monsoon Blue.
