Default Calder Park True Blue Championships Jan 22-23 2011

Due to the overwhelming response and popularity we had to the Spring Horse Power Challenge, Calder Park has decided to hold its True Blue event over both the 22nd and 23rd of January 2011. By holding it over two consecutive days we anticipate a high volume of cars, so be sure to register soon so you don't miss out!!

ENTRY FEE

$200 Including GST (This fee includes 1 driver and 5 crew passes)

Please be aware that all entry's received after Thursday 23rd December will incur a $450 entry fee.

GARAGES

Garages are available for this event at $50 per garage. This is a weekend rate and includes both Friday and Saturday nights. These garages will be sold at a "First in Best Dressed" policy. Please note that should you withdraw from the event, the garage money will not be refunded. To book a garage, please contact Stephanie Lorenzini on (03) 9091 0800.

Please Note: Under no circumstances are children under the age of 18 allowed out onto the infield due to OH&S reasons. Should we find children in the infield throughout the course of the event, they will be asked to leave the area immediately.

I've received some info regarding the True Blue event, and the next 2 events... Gonna be alot of impressed people with this...
The next 3 events will be a 'Triple Crown' series, and there will be a points system to determine the winner. Points are as follows-
Quarter Finals 20pts
Semi Finals 60pts
Runner up 80pts
Winner 100pts

The competitors with the most points in each bracket will be the 'Triple Crown Champion' and win the $2000 prize!
If you win the bracket as well, that's an awesome pay day!!
Also on offer is-
Quickest time of the meet $1000 (doesn't include Doorslammer bracket)
Fastest speed of the meet $1000 (doesn't include Doorslammer bracket)
Perfect Reaction time $1000 (first car/bike in eliminations only)
Best Presented Car and Crew $1000

To top it off, Calder is giving away a Muscle Car!!!!
The Car is an immaculate 1970 1/2 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Clone.
Details of the car-
383 Stroker V8 (Custom Engine Bay)
5 Speed 'Tremec' Corvette Manual Gearbox
Hugger Orange/White Z/28 Stripes (PPG Paint)

No children on the infield. We would be pitted on the infield. We have children so no Calder for us.

Can't get a straight answer from anyone. Soon as you mention anything on a forum they all clam up. Think we'll do Portland instead. More fun.

I didn't see yo on Boxing Day at Heathcote. I have never seen so many cars there. :-)

The straight answer is, no under 18 for the infield, it says it on the website....
You'll find in the next few years that all the tracks will have a designated area for kids, it's getting to the point where people bring there kids to the track and dont look after them. I've seen many a time kids runnning out in front of cars while they are making there way to the staging area, and it's only a matter of time before 1 of the kids gets run over...
And i'm not only talking about Victoria, this will be Australia wide...

We both have family with kids under 18 years
Dont know what we will do at the moment.
Last time ,Nov 20, we (super street and Nostelgia) were in the pits so all was good. Kids came along and all was great.

yogi351 has said no children so we are definitely not going. It's hard enough juggling racing and family but having a 18yo to look after the younger ones helps but this is the first place we have found that has actually banned children. Unattended children I could understand but to just blanket ban then seems stupid considering there is no ban at all in the main pits.

The main reason for this is because it is so close to the track, and you can understand that if something did happen to your kids, who you gonna point the finger at?? Not yourself, that's for sure....

And Ian, don't be surprised if Heathcote, and the other major tracks follow due to increases in insurance....

Russell loves kids and would shut Heathcote before he banned kids and the regional tracks would die if kids were banned. Drag racing is a family sport and the sooner the powers that be figure this out the quicker the sport will grow. Kids are the future racers.

I guess the problem is that the pits just aren't big enough to have all the cars entered in them. I dont know what the infield was like on the 20th, But the pits were so over crowded you could not move. When you did, you lost your car spot. Dont think there is an easy solution to the problem. BUT, it is a problem.

YOGI, What is wrong with the old return road??? This would stop thru traffic going thru the infield. The only cars going around the track then would be cars stopping in the infield.

It's got nothing to do with the powers that be, it's the irresponsible parents that you have to worry about, and like in all sports, they wreck it for everyone...

Funny thing is I cant remember one incident at any meet I have been to that is related to children and cars! And I haven't seen to many irresponsible parents. Must be a Calder thing. I can see why calder is concerned but banning kids is not the answer. Organizers need to spend some money and make them more safe for families. If kids were banned from pits then I would sell the car and find another sport. But enough of my complaints. We aren't going and this thread is about those that are.

I'm running my car in Nostalgia and are not happy about pitting in the infield either. I have a young family too, but obvisouly they can't come.

Are general admission spectators a loud to walk out into the infield and check out the cars?
