Is it possible at the moment to get from Brisbane to Mackay by road or will I get to Rocky and be stuck. I know rocky is a no go but is there any ways inland to go to get through. I was meant to start work on Tuesday morning the 4th but still down here.

I'd check the RACQ road condition site but I'd seriously doubt you'd get through

The only way to Rocky and north at present is via Barcaldine.
I wouldn't bother trying unless your dog has died in Mackay.

fly up and start the job, go home when the floods have gone down and drive your car back.
i think thats the only way you will get through. they are saying it could be a couple of weeks before you can get to rocky. .... IF we dont get more rain.

fly is the only way i know cause you won't be getting through here any time soon. at least 8 days the way it is, maybe more as the river has rose further up i've been told. Don't know about inland as most of the roads west of here are flooded or washed away.

going by the 2 metres under my house ,i wont be thinking you will get past the roundabout for another 5 to 7 days yet ( roundabout just up the road from my house ) and if you look on the airports web site you will see that they are shut for at least another week or more .
