Default Stock XR8 - 13.71 @ WSID

Took my BF XR8 auto to WSID last night and came back pretty impressed.

First run was a 14.641, too much wheelspin by loading up the torque converter. But I did manage to reach 165.19km/h.

Second run, I took out the air filter, and didn't load up the torque converter at all, just brake off and accelerate.

60' - 2.159
330' - 4.986
660' - 8.949
ET - 13.710
Mph - 101.92
Km/h - 164.03

This is a car with standard exhaust, standard road tyres, spare wheel and jack on board, plus two baby seats in the back and I even had 3/4 of a tank of normal unleaded fuel, but a pretty light driver at 57kg.

What is the quickest stock time you have heard of for an XR8?

Timesheet for both runs attached

Thats pretty impressive. Motor and Wheels usually say the xr8 does like 14.6. and they say the typhoon does 13.6, so your 8's as fast as a typhoon. or wheels are full of it.

Just looked up the back of my latest Wheels mag and they have 14.4. (6spd auto)

Motor magazine has 14.0. (Doesn't say whether it's auto or manual)

From memory, Wheels test times are half a tank of fuel and two people on board.

The only other variables I can think of are:
1. That the Drag strip has better grip for a quicker time, or...
2. That a car with 50000km has a freer engine than a fairly new one that the journo's often test.

Thats a manuel for Motors time.

Wheels usually have a second passenger a full tank of fuel for their 400m tests.

also as one of the car mags has stated, drag strips tend to give a faster time due to its radar system (or something along those lines?) where as the way they (mag) test it with the on board computer, its more accurate.

well wouldn't the onboard computer version actually count wheel spin as going some distance?

Great time mate. Just goes to show that stalling it up is not always a good idea especially when you don't have traction. I'll keep that in mind when I hit the track myself.

a 13.9 out of a manual

and have heard of high 13's out of the 6sp auto but never a 13.7

Thumbs up

Thats a great time from a stock car. My old BF did 14.00 with 1500 klms on the clock. Got to love the 6speed autos. 13.7 is awesome.

I only bought the car with the intention of keeping it for a year, so won't go down the mod's road, since I will probably only keep it till about October or to the beginning of 2008.

It was an ex NSW highway patrol car that I bought at auction with 38000km on it (didn't want to say that, because the whole are they chipped arguement will start up again.)

I would be ecstatic if I could just go 2 hundreths of a second faster and get a 13.69.

Its all the ZF. Hell even 3v's feel quickish in stock form with a ZF.

Nice time. Planning to see if it can be backed up?

It is an impressive gearbox, so quick to change and so smooth even at full throttle.

I'll have another go soon, to see if it was just a freak time, or if I can just find those other 2 hundreths of a second.

It will be interesting to see if a lighter fuel load makes for a quicker time, or just results in more wheelspin with less weight being over the back wheels?

Congrats on the time, we are not seeing to many BF Boss powered cars hit the track, at our last drag meet BF XR8 CAI with edit and CAI went 13.4.
The 6 speed has lifted these cars, would be nice to see some BF GT's run...... the BA boys flogged there Boss cars from pillar to post...
Do you have plans for any mods?

How well you know us Mark! And, yes a great time from a stock XR8. There are so many more inexpensive bolt on mods that will get you into a 12, just ask HOT460......
