Hit a Roo today - Boo Hoo.

Very upset event this morning. One roo went over the roof and the Mondy stopped on a dime against the second. Both of the bloody things got up and hopped away. Which is a good thing I guess.
We'll get it fixed and still purchase the car. It was driveable but the bonnet will not lock down and the headlight and fog light are buggered.

I'd suggest getting some of the roo deterrent things, but the last time i did that it seemed to attract more of them. Plus there's nowhere to fit them to a lot of modern cars like yours.

Yes exactly that. I extended the lease for 6 months to give the new territory time to get out there.

I suspose you have to look at it as, " it could of been worse" I dread the day when it happen's to me, I have had a few close call's but "touch wood" no contact's as of yet.

Cars can be fixed.
As long as you and yours are ok that's the main thing.

As Roo hits go, looks like you got off fairly easily - they can cause lots of damage to both Front ends and wallets

It's my second time round with hitting a roo. The first was in a BA Falcon where I drive 100kms further to get to Canberra. I just made it before it stopped working due to there being no water left in the radiator.
You're right, this is not too bad and the car was still driveable. The only problem is the bonnet will not lock down so I'm in a crappy holden rental at the moment. I can tell you that I already miss the Mondeo.

Have to agree with you about the brakes on the way to ACT from Sydney at night a Wombat walked out in front of me and I know from experience what damage these animals can do, well smoke still coming from the brakes but gee thank god they are good at least your are fine

My mate hit a roo in his falcon hire car.....it went through the windscreen and demolished the interior - he was hanging out the door at 80kms. It went through the back screen ans disappeared. Took the car back and told them he hit a roo - not much damage outside. The receptionist didnt see the screens missing or the interior and told of the mishap said that ok we will fix the dents later its booked to go out in 30 minutes!
Nearly had a fit when she saw the interior.

yep your damn lucky thats all that happened, we hit a roo in my mates lexus a few yrs back, wasnt real nice :(

A friend got some of those roo whistles on her car, and it didn't deter anything, so your probably right

There is a study somewhere that found the roos don't like noise. Just blowing your horn may be the better way about it.

The problem with roos are that they are most likely to turn around and hit you when you thought they have gone past in front of you

If you look real close at my avatar you'll see about a dozen roos in the background. With the number of dead roos I've found out the front of my place over the years I'm sure they've accounted for a few dollars in repairs. I even had some guy past my place way back and he got his lexus cleaned up by a cow. It wasn't my animal but at the end of it all he was happy because it got him out of dispute with the Dealer and he got a new car.
