Default Ignition barrel

My mk1 escort which has a mk2 ignition barrel is stuffed. The key got stuck in and could not be turned so I took the barrel out, took it to a locksmith and he couldn't fix it ( I think he didn't want to know about it ). My question is... Do I get a new barrel - if so where? or can I get the old one repaired?
