Default how fast can you go for under $2000?

How fast can you go down the quarter mile for under $2000 including purchase of car?

Your own labour not included but must include all cost of parts and must come in under $2000 all up? Car must also pass a roadworthy inspection and driven to and from race track.

How would you go about such a challenge?

Buy a roughie Windsor v8 powered eb and lighten it up. Do a home job cai. Should get a mid or a high 14 and all come in under $2000.

Fast. Cheap. Reliable. Pick two.

If I could get an EBII S or XR6 for that money, I'd be over the moon.

Otherwise, it would be to the red corner for a VP SS.

Find a rough cortina and strip it all out. Place au 4 litre and auto in it and spend the rest on nitrous.

Good thread (for a change).

Were these driven to the track and back home again?

I think the op has an extra rule in his post.

If it makes it to and from the track its passed RWC for me

None of this one off fast times with rods swinging at the end of the track ect.

Average is out of 3 runs, and the car has to make 3 runs to quallify for winner status

Id get a R31 RB30,weld the diff(stock 28spline axles 3.9:1),large pan auto(in car allready purchased),vl 6cyl inline pump(NOS prioritised)2nd hand, colder plugs, leads, good fuel and 100hp NOS kit(wet of course).Take all the powersteering/AC off and knock up some extra pulleys/tensioners.These stripped are light as a feather.

Id get that in their with change for good rubber.I recon it would/could go 13 something reliably.

costs $1000 to register the car. you're only left with $1000 then. i think the Red Streak ran a 12.4 with a total cost of about $800 leaves $200 left over for drinks

wouldn't be hard to get the car to pass rego inspection especially if u have ''mates'' in the business.

We brought a EB XR6 off eBay $650 sold the extractors off it for $300... then put rego on it... ran it at the drags 15.9... and it has a Fod Momo steering wheel(go for up to $400 on eBay) put NOS on the car it;ll run 14's maybe 13's...it'll run 14.0 with 75hp shot....

$2000 spent on the right bike would absolutely smash it down the quarter (look for one with a 6sp gearbox though)

I think the challenge should be $2,000 budget for the car, anything you have left should be for repairs ONLY. No performance upgrades.

That would make it even better.

I would say no, don't have the cost of runs or helmet purchase or fuel or anything in the challenge price.

NO RACE FUEL standard pump fuel only
