Default best way to get a good 0-100 time?

hi,

I'm after some advice on how to get a good 0-100kph time. I've been using a friends private driveway to do some tests. I'm finding that if I plant the throttle all the way, I just get wheel spin. So I have to be gentle initially and then build it up, but that gives me a slow start and initially the revs are below 3000rpm, so out of the power band. If I stall up the convertor to 2500rpm, again I just get wheel spin. Is there a better way to do this, or do I really need better tyres and an LSD?

I'm getting a consistent 7.4s 0-100kph on both BP ultimate and gas, using the OBD port to some diagnostics software. I have a definite dip in power around 3000rpm and need a tune, but can't justify the cost at the moment.

Cheers.

It's not illegal to accelerate to 100 on a freeway with a 110 limit

Best to head to the Drag Strip safer and they will prep the track and reduce the chance of wheel spin.

Try stalling up and mashing the brake pedal on take off. Drop the rear tyre pressures down to 24psi pump the fronts up to 50psi.

Stall up to a lower rpm?

Leave the handbrake on part way until out of the hole then take off.

you want to check that, excessive acceleration is what its called and yes they will impound you car for that...

LOL

anyway, this is being tested on his friends driveway ;) so help the fella out

what tyres you running? might help to lower the psi a little.... maybe even a small burnout to warm them up a tiny bit

Thanks, I'll try some of those tips and head up to my mate's farm at the weekend for another try.

Make sure you reset the ecu before your run because if you been crusing all the way to the farm the timing will be on the retard side of things.

Also seeing as you don't have a LSD put some weight in the boot above the right rear wheel.

cheers, I've got the gas tank in the back between the 2 wheels, not sure how much it weighs, but expect it's a fair few kg when full.

buy yourself a second motorcycle for $2000, and you wont have to worry about going slightly better then 7.4 seconds, you will be looking at 5 seconds and lower times.

If you have wheel spin issues with the single pegger the best way is to get an lsd,no two ways about it.
Single wheeler diffs are for grannys, not good 0-100km times.
And good tyres are a must, not expensive just new/newish condition.

Yeah I got a gas tank too when I go Drag Racing I just have 1 light on the gas and 1/4 tank of petrol to reduce the weight.

Better way to get faster 0-100 times ???

Borrow my car ;) 3.89 @ the track .

Seriously though , forget tunes and all that , invest on some really decent tyres under the rear !!! Best bang for buck for acceleration on any car

Then start looking at tunes and such .

Single spinners are great on the street. Ill stand by my comment that if your thinking about doing hard launching or any kind of track work, stay away from LSD's. I learnt that the hard way. Go for a LOKKA or KAAZ or something, not just a normal Factory LSD.

Softer springs and dedicated drag shocks..
As said a good LSD and lower final drive..
A whole XR Diff centre maybe ??
If your serious buy some 15" wheels and fit some
drag radials 245X15 or so..

Hes not racing competively he just wants a better 0-100 time so what i said will be fine and for the record single pegger diffs are unpredictable and just rubbish except for immature people who like to hear squeals every time they go round a corner.
