I fail to see why it's funny that someones car was damaged through a mistake like leaving the roof down. I'm sure others would not like to be laughed at for basic human error.

It's hardly ruined...even brand new Rolls Royces are basically hand built...what a man made, another man can fix. There's really no such thing as a "written off" Rolls Royce or Bentley, unless it's actually been crashed beyond repair. They're all worth fixing...even the Shadows from the seventies that you can pick up for around $20,000 upwards now.
Remember too, it's a million dollar plus car...$100,000, even if it did cost hat much to repair, is only a tenth of the cars value. Say you paid $50,000 for an FPV Falcon...would ou be happy if they were going to write it off for $500 damage...? |

That could very easily be written off.
Warped wood paneling which cant just be replaced piece by piece, wiring and electronics that would be damaged etc etc. Dont forget, any repairs have to be guaranteed for life. |

Statutory writeoff I bet with all the probable water damage to wiring and electrical systems. It's the same as a car being in a river, obviously without the engine getting a gutful of water.

Oh come on some people are too serious...its a car, and Ill take a wild stab and say the guy as enough poo change for some full comp. Its a nuisance and perhaps a waste of raw materials at best.

Insurance fraud if you ask me.
How can anyone leave the roof open when they could see it was going to rain. They just want to get rid of the car and get something else. |

If you own a car like that and leave it anywhere, for any length of time with the roof down you are either:
1. Wealthy enough that it just doesn't matter; 2. A crim looking for an insurance job; 3. A complete idiot. It's simply bloody funny when such an act of wanton recklessness or stupidity comes to the fore. |

I'm sure that when parked in the street with the top down it gets plenty of fluids projected into it anyway.
I don't know why you'd park something like that with the top down unless you were trying to show off like a total wnkr. I'd keep the top up and know that at least when I get in it i'm not going to be sitting in someones spit. |

I'm kind of betting that the leathers, materials, wiring, and other stuff used in the interior is of a slightly better quality than our average Falcons that couldn't stand a five minute summer shower coming in an open window...
In fact, you can just about lay real money on a bet that at some stage during the design process, a typically-thorough Rolls Royce team of designers and engineers would have tested what happens if some owner's a numptie and leaves the top down during a rain storm and know exactly the outcome and have designed stuff on dropheads to protect them in the remote possibility of water ingress...have you seen the trouble they go to designing the operation and details of little things like minor interior fittings you hardly even see? They'd have thought of it and done something about it...not to mention the typical over-engineering of everything in a Rolls...they make the entire dash assembly out of one huge lump of magnesium...not because it's easier or cheaper, but because it does away with a lot of joints that could in the future possibly become a squeek or rattle... |

If so, let us not forget this is a million $ car, where's the rain sensor that automactically closes the roof when it rains? Should have thought of that one huh? maybe i should work there? |
