Default What do you call Japanese Import cars :p

I prefer the Term "Jap Taxi"
Because when people think they have an awesome JDM sweet ride. They dont realise that car is only a taxi in Japan.

Hiroshima Screamer and ricer are another term i have heard a few times.

Let me know what your favourtie terms for these new import cars are

Sorry if you drive a jap taxi... Ehhh i mean import car

"Grey imports" last I heard
My old CBR was classified as such because it wasn't Australian release.

nissans, mazdas, subi's, mitsubishi's - whatever the name plate says

let's not forget that our beloved fords have been taxi's for many years - and for that matter bmw's and merc's

there is no shame in building a car that the masses think are comfortable enough to pay to ride in them

in the 2nd line of the opening post, it criticises the said cars because they are "only" taxis

As above - Japanese Imports.

Calling a Japanese car a ricer, or some other pejorative term, is like someone calling your Aussie car a bogan mobile. At the end of the day it's not really that funny unless you're in a circle with friends.

JDM basically refers to anything Japanese, while the use of "JDM" has been adapted to describe a particular style of car modifing.

For example, someone might have a Import S15, but done to a "sex-spec" style (big crappy chrome rims, wild aribrushing etc)...then on the other hand you might have a S15 that has the JDM look, using Japanese perfomance parts, and a bias towards perfomance...

Websites such as Speedhunters and Fatlace/hellaflush have tended to show JDM as a style,

I ave no hard feelings about these cars. Skylione is probably one of the most revolutionary imports so far, something that STI and EVO tried to replicate.
I just find it amusing at all the names that get thrown around.
The times i do not appreciate these cars is when people make them look retarded. Lowered with bad body kits and whale tails.
other than that they are kewl.

But i still like their nick names :p

Isn't that a Toyota Chaser or Crown? Under that long hideous bonnet probably lurks a 2JZ-GTE (straight-6 toyota supra motor).

Crowns and Cedrics. Singapore has them too. Under that skin lies a diesel with a 5 speed manual box. Stripped out interior. They go forever.

Close, it's actually a Toyota Crown Comfort.

Toyota did with the crown what Ford should have done with the falcon - kept producing the six-seat, hose out interior AUIII wagon for taxis, (Call it the Ford Forte, no Falcon in the title) and kept on actual development of the real Falcon (FGII etc), kept the I6 as basis for both, but keep the six-speed auto and irs for the private vehicles.

Errr... I think the whole, "Lest we forget" mantra is meant so people don't forget the lesson learned and the brave diggers that gave their lives for our freedom, not what a certain race of people did.

haha sub - aROO. Funny that. Many years ago when subaru's were not common, I thought that subaru was an Australian car company because the logo looked suspiciously like the southern cross.
