Hi, thinking of fitting a Uhf/Cb, reckon i can of run it of the cig lighter to keep the unit portable, only uses 5w max so should be o'k'. Might put antenna on a front light bar, fender or of the tow bar with a adapter, does anybody know a place that sells front pax side fender mounts already made up ?,cheers.

Hi ab5632891649346124
Check out prestigecom - they usually have a pretty good range of UHF gear. Why do you want to run an in-car unit if portability is a concern? Personally, I run one of these: http://www.prestigecom.net.au/index....oducts_id=2008 It's a 5w handheld. When you say your UHF only uses 5w max, are you talking about the 5w transmit strength? Or does the unit only draw 0.42A @ 12v? I'd find that number to be a bit low..... As for antennas, have you considered the option of the old magnetic base? I'm considering getting one for my handheld. But if you want to go the screw-on path then prestigecom (amongst many other places!) will sell you a very good antenna and a bonnet mount for under $100 easy.
