Cool Here We Go Again

Just a random venting post

Just cruzin home the other night after a 16 hour stint and the old girl drops on to 7 again
So with the sun shining me thinks here we go again lets just pull it apart one more time for fun. FFS didn't even bother with the electrics this time strait to the rocker covers left bank look good of course, so of comes the inlet manifold sure enough there hiding in #1 is a 2 piece valve spring Being as the heads only had a full reco a few months back and would be lucky to have 2k on them not real impressed anyway it appears when they check them on the bench if the spring rate is rite they chuck em back in
Ahh well to make myself feel better I ordered some new MSD Blaster coil packs , a set of Max Race leads,Polished the covers up and trial fitted them and full set of Decent springs and will fit them up my self this time, lets hope it dont take 6 months to fix this time .

should just get one of these

You could always trade it on a BA to FG once you've fixed it......

Of course, hell could also freeze over, and Gillard could be right........

Damn Whoosh. Did you leave a black cat lying in the middle of the road somewhere? At least it is a bit easier fix than the last 'event'.

Rocker covers look good.

Good luck.

I like the way the 2nd pic has the oil filler cap labelled "Engine Oil"

Obviously knew it was going to be used by an old vision impaired pensioner who isn't sure what goes where !

it`s always good mechanical practice to replace old heads with new alloy heads after broken valve springs for reliability reasons ;).

Plans have been developed and approved to buy another XR8 once the business takes off. Some may say, how is it - I never learn?

Yeah but it gets / got there fast lol
Seriously but. all I have spent from new over the purchase price is really not to bad Age is nearly as big a killer as Ks, Motor wise I did a spring at 60000ks had the Uni chip and tune done then as well as CAI and mongrel Froggy Zorst all up wouldn't have spent more than $1100 back then and has ran consistent 13s. last time Cost was $1200 just chasing and trying to solve the problem of the water in the sump when in reality if we new that it was just the timing case cover, it would have been $200. That and general maintenance .Service .brakes ext. its been Fairly cheap to maintain as those who know me realise I didnt buy it to put it in the shed to look at, its driven smartly with out being thrashed if you get my drift This time round is a bit more because I will fit a complete set of springs piff the old Factory coil packs (although there still ok )for some MSD gear and some youbeaut Spiral wound leads and about $100 or so on the right tools for the job and do it my self
