Default stomach drops

watching the news yesterday they showed the double fatal car crash up here on the pacific highway near bangalow and bec said that looks like her friends car,,2 seconds later the phone rings,,the look on her face,,,her saying no,no,no,,,your stomach drops,,a night of tears,,phonecalls and asking why.

louise was comming home from seeing a neal diamond show at Mullumbimby on NYE when another local was heading north crossed onto the wrong side of the road hitting headon...the police said she died instantly,,speed or alcohol have been ruled out at this stage,,to think if only she had left 1 min earlier or later.

her last post on facebook reads

"May your heart burst with love
Your spirit live in peace
You shine with success and glow with good health...
Hope all your dreams come true in 2013

6 hours later a beauitful 34 year old is gone

we never know when it will be our turn to go,,drive safe,,tell your family, friends and loved ones,,that you love them

R.I.P Louise,,Lommy to her family and friends

Mate I dont know what to say, I hate those calls when time stands still.

I remember once a frined of mine had cancer, and I new he was on his last legs, I had been to see him on the Wednesday and 8:30 on the following Monday morning I was getting a phone call from his number, I new what the call was but I didnt have the balls to answer it becasue I new it was his mum telling me he'd passed, that was 12 years ago and I still remember the moment like it had just happend.

So I know exactly what you and Bec are going through, I heard about the accendet your talking about on the radio while driving home from down the coast and thought, this really isnt the way for those peoples frinds and family to bring in the new year, as XR6 661 has said, Condolances you Bec & to the family of the deceased

Yeah that phone call or knock at the door. Such a feeling of helplessness.
Nothing you could do at the time would have made Bec feel any better.
As you said, never know when it's your time to go. Treat family and friends like its your last day here.

Very sorry to hear that.

My partner and I had a very similar indecent with a good friend last year.

Our local paper uploaded a picture to facebook about a fatal crash just outside of Sale, on the Longfrod-Seaspray Rd. When my partner saw it, she went in to a state of shock and unknown. It looked like her friends EL, but we weren't sure. 1 hour later her family updated his facebook. Her thoughts were right.

There was nothing left of his car... hit a 4x4 at a bend at 100 or more

Condolences to all.

My own version of this call happened a few years ago when my brother suicided - my dad rang me at work, and I was so busy I just answered the phone and said "Can I ring you back". Dad hesitated and then said yes, so I hung up. Was that busy I forgot to ring for 2 hours or so and then got the bad news and then had to ring my other brother to tell him (he didn't believe me initially). I was then in shock for over an hour and don't remember much of that time except that I was walking laps outside at work and smoking heaps. The boss sent me home soon after (offered to drive me, but I pulled myself together for the 20 minute drive to mum and dad's).

That stomach drop feeling is one that none of us enjoy, and that each of us experience at some stage through the circle of life.

Condolences mate, when these things happen they can only serve to remind us of how precious life is, and how unimportant all the trivial things are.

My immediate family faced the tragedy of suicide 3 years ago yesterday, and if anything positive can come from it our immediate family which had become distanced is now very much closer together.
Hopefully you and Bec and all those around you get all the comfort you need and can find a positive to take from this tragic event.
