I have done this to a 185 engine (same as 175) no problems at all. I did change the valve springs, retainer and locks though as the springs have been known to break on the 220 and 250 engines (both use the 1.7s). Valve covers will be fine, not sure why you think you would need a spacer - answer is no.
It is a great mod -similar to putting in a mild cam. We estimated that mine went to around 210 fwkw with air intake and exhaust mods as well.

Good luck
Stu

To be honest, I cannot remember. It was quite a while ago. I even had a trawl through my thread to see if I could find the prices - no go. I did this back in May 2011, so prices would have changed anyway.

I suggest sent Justin at tuff car parts a PM (Private9) and seek a quote. I am pretty sure he knows all the part numbers.

I used Crow parts (double valve springs)
Locks - 11701
Crow Cams Part Number for valve springs to suit is 7738/16.
Could not find the retainers part number, but it ends in XR8 (different exhaust and inlet heights).

Here is a pic I found in my thread.

Hope that helps
Cheers
Stu

Hi Stu,

Doing a bit of research on the net, it appears that the Yella Terra 1.7 roller rockers are almost twice as expensive as the Crane 1.7 roller rockers! Is there much of a difference in quality, given that Ford used the Crane 1.6 in some Tickford V8 engines?

Also is there any issues in getting second hand rockers out of say a 220 engine?

HI guys. I did the YT Street Terras ST2027 from memory. I was not aware of the cheaper Crane ones, so I cannot comment on the quality difference. Sorry.

I guess there would be no issue using second hand ones, but like anything second hand there is that risk. I guess, is only you could weigh up the risk based on KMs on the ones you are using and price. Sorry to sit on the fence, but really it is a difficult question without knowing the variables.

Cheers
Stu

Crane 1.6s appear the same spec as Yella terra 1.7s I have both on the bench and be damed if I can pick or measure the difference
