With all the talk of Falcon on life support it raises an interesting question amongst a lot of die hard Ford fans.
What would you buy if the Falcon was no more?. |

Keep a used one until the day I die. Nothing will ever be better. Is that a little narrow minded? Lol

The VE Sportwagon 60th Eds looked good IMO, don't like the sportwagons with the sports bodykit... and then I'd drop a 6.0L V8 in it, or at least a used 4.0 I6! Would I actually buy one though? They are a bit small inside thats all.
Unfortunately the only Falcon I'd want to buy new has already died, the wagon. :( If there was a still a proper sized wagon (the Sporthatch doesn't count! ) I might! My opinion may not count, I'm not near the point in my life when I'd consider buying a brand newie. I'll spend less and import a big 70s American wagon! |

The day they stop building Falcons is the day I stop buying Fords. I will buy one of the last Falcons and keep it until I die. I will never move from Ford to Holden products.
As to other brands, I would consider something from VW. |

If there was no more Falcon I'd probably buy a V8 Commodore ute.

Maybe a 4WD Ranger or if I just want a highway cruiser, a Mustang.
That's if I had to buy a Ford. |

Depends on what the price range is I guess, if we're talking apples for apples then if I had to give back mine and the Falcon wasn't an option I'd probably be in either a Ford Ranger or a Hilux, just for something different.
While I like the E series 1 HSV it's now getting a tad old, and the series 2 and 3 just don't do it for me at all. Also, a major reason I saw the light initially when buying my first Ford was the fact they know how to make a comfortable and swish looking interior! Sure the F6 and GT isn't as "Bling" as the HSV's one but it looks accommodating, comfortable and understated rather than 'utilitarian' / 'militaristic'. This is obviously my own taste bias so take that with a grain of salt. If price WASN'T an issue I'd probably end up with an AMG C63 Sedan, for me they accommodate a family and have the luxury / grunt that I've found to be a winning combo for myself. I thought I would only care about 'going fast' until you start to miss creature comforts. If no wife / kids... mustang |

Spend a whole lot more cash but get a Nissan GTR - still best value supercar around, also lots of talk that the new GTR will likely be a hybrid, so like the dying Falcon, would be a keeper..
plus would continue to appeal to the modifying bug!

Whatever product fits my needs from whichever brand has the best product at the time of purchase. I'm not really in the market for another large sedan.
Mind you a Mustang would be on the top of the short list if they do actually start selling them here.

Ford will have a model to replace it with. If not after my current falcon's die, maybe a focus.

I would still buy a Ford. I'm a Ford fan more than I am a Falcon fan, so I'd keep buying Ford products. Maybe a Mondeo or Focus. Or the new Kuga.
But I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

Bit of a morbid thread.
I still wont buy a GMH, in the same bracket etc then I dont mind the new Mazda 6, in TDi form would be nice. Shame they dropped the manual option from the whole range on the new one though.

A viable alternative to the last FPV's would have to be a C63 for me, second hand so I dont get too punished by depreciation. Hugely talented vehicle and would also give me someone to cheer for in the V8SC circus.
