A MIDNIGHT joy ride in a stolen vehicle could cost xxxxxxxxxx more than $70,000, a Rockhampton court heard yesterday.
It is alleged the 18-year-old and his mate stole a brand new Ford Falcon from the David Motel on Musgrave St about 11pm on Wednesday. But they didn't get far. xxx allegedly crashed the high-performance vehicle at the intersection of Fitzroy and George streets, just 50m from the 24-hour McDonald's. He appeared in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court yesterday charged with unlawful use and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. Police prosecutor Constable Paige Barrow told the court xxx lost control of the car when it struck the median strip at the George St traffic lights. She said because of the high speed the vehicle mounted the footpath and spun out through a fence, destroying timber posts. The court heard the crash damaged a power pole and power lines. Cons Barrow said Ergon believed costs would be in excess of $20,000. To add to the bill the car, valued at $50,000, was completely written off. Cons Barrow said xxx and his co-offender, who is yet to be located, fled the scene. She said xxx refused to give up his mate. xxxxxxxxxxx solicitor Bruce Guy applied for bail for xxx, which police opposed. Mr Guy said his client intended to plead guilty. However, Magistrate Barry Cosgrove said xxx was an unacceptable risk of committing further offences and endangering the public and himself. xxx was remanded in custody until May 9. I have blanked out the name etc...so didn't post link Also how did they bypass the security system ???? did they steal the keys ?? as happens these days..

If he does get a bill like that I'd like them to say pay it in full or go straight to jail.
Problem is these idiots do crap like this and have to pay it back and get allowed to pay something retarded like $10 fortnight for x amount of years. Doesn't teach these turds anything.

They didn't make it very clear, but suggesting the 'value' of 50k, probably some sort of FPV or a late model xr6 turbo

My thought's exactly. Maybe even a friends car? Who knows, but even my 07 BF has a immobilizer so any car worth 50k is bound to.

No csv8 is doing the right thing.
There has been no determination of guilt as yet and until then he has the protection of presumption of innocence in exactly the same way all of you are. In other places he would be named and presumed guilty until proven otherwise and sometimes not even then. Of course any of you who feel that guilt should be presumed and punishment handed out before testing the evidence let me know as I am sure that you can be accommodated. |

Don't worry I'm up here in Townsville and they do nothing with them too "oh you can't do anything to them they are disadvantaged and don't know any better" WELL if they don't get taught by society they aren't going to learn
had my car stolen by a scumbag earlier this year. An eighteen year old who has stolen around 40 cars and he still hasn't been punished. Apparently if you drive your own car its hooning but if you steal someone elses and get caught doing 145kph down the wrong side of a main road in a 60 zone that's completely ok Our justice system is a joke Last edited by tezxr8man; 05-05-2013 at 05:27 PM. It is obvious that some do not seem to understand the concept of innocent until found guilty by a court.
This is actually rather strange considering the amount of complaining about the application of proposed hoon laws against "innocent car enthusiasts". closed. |
