Hi all,
Today I had the privilege of shooting a 12-ship Hornet formation and then individual beatups at low level as they returned to RAAF Base Williamtown today. 2OCU had been away on a conversion course, sort of like Jehovah's Witness except you end up a fighter pilot. Actually nothing like a Jehovah's Witness. Anyway, hope you enjoy my photos. The formation looked like a big number 2 from where I was located. And my favourite from the day as this Hornet passed across the sun in front of me: |

Bet that sounded awesome. Loved Anzac Day when I lived in Canberra and they'd fly low in formation over my house before a fly over of the war memorial.

I enjoy working with them, it's always spectacular. Yeah, the formation flying was fairly passive as they are not going fast and are concentrating on formation, but the low level flypasts were at speed and impressive as always. |

Makes me miss my time in the RAAF. Best beat-up was a J model Herc on return from the gulf over Pearce. If he was 100' he was lucky

Awesome shots! I was able to get a couple of photos of these planes when they arrived, doing a tour over Brisbane. They seem to be equipped with more options now!

Thanks, yeah we don't normally see so many at once here. Nice shots of the Super Hornets! In Williamtown, we have the classic Hornets. One of the easiest ways I can tell the difference is by the square intakes on the Supers versus the round intakes on the classics. |
