I wouldn't care if Walkinshaw did aftermarket work with Mustangs etc, as I for one would still take my car to Rob's over Walkinshaw any day of the week.

I've had nothing but great service from the team at Herrod's and I have no interests in going elsewhere.

I am not seeing an issue here.
They're just wanting to expand their business, the more tuners the better I would have thought.
It is the choice of the buyer if they choose to go there or not just like any other.

It's weird!
FPV is like Moffat and Ford. The Winning Team.
Walkinshaw is associated with Holden/HSV. Not Ford/FPV, It's just wrong! But then again we have seen Brock race a Ford Sierra and Moffat race a Holden Commodore with Brock.

Wow that's like Fpv or tick ford workin on holdens. I for one can't possibly see that workin.....certainly not enough for it to be a serious venture that's for sure.

Sounds more Iike a vote of confidence on their behalf on how good they expect the mustang to do here, and they want in....I like that part

Might also stem from the kid (walkinshaw jnr) and Deveraux absolutely hating each others guts and Deveraux wanting to be responsible for HSV's demise.

Actually if ford goes all guns blazing and opens the doors to the ford factory mods off the shelf.....for the mustangs.....they'd leave nothing to the imagination of local tuners. There's allready a massive options list. Not sure that will happen tho!

Looks like Walkinshaw is just going back to its roots. As the Walkinshaw name has been associated with Ford on more than one occasion in the past.

In Tom Walkinshaws early days one of his first race cars was a Formula Ford

Then in 1974 he was a Ford Factory driver in the British Touring Car Championship.
Here he is out the front of the Boreham workshop with his Capri.

In the latter days he was Engineering Director of the Benetton F1 team which used ford engines between '91 & '94

Walkinshaw Ford Kuga
http://www.carsguide.com.au/news-and...rd_kuga_review

and

http://www.walkinshawperformance.com...ews.asp?ID=370

Interesting, no performance gains though as apparently not cost effective for only 80 units to be sold.
Odd

How cool would it be to be supercharged ....

It's hardly weird at all.

FPV were Prodrive, also responsible for WRC Subaru Impreza, Mini's, Aston Martin Racing (WEC and GT3), and a whole bunch of other motorsports outfits.

As far as I can see, if HSV buy FPV and do up a mustang? By all means hell yeah! It's just like Roush or any other outfit souping up a vehicle. Hennessey do all sorts of makers, so I don't see what's so weird about this.

Let's be honest, in three years there will be no performance Falcons and Commodores, Walkinshaw need to broaden their horizon in order to survive.

It will be strange initially seeing a Walkinshaw modified Mustang, especially if it carries Walkinshaw badging/stickers, but at the end of the day they are just another tuner.

Walkinshaw do mitsubishi triton mods and also parts for evo rally cars in the UK as well so they arent brand specific. This day an age its better to be a tuner than link yourself to a brand. They are also the importer for some Indian 4x4 here in Aus

Can't see why they would want to do this, if it's even true. No self respecting Ford guy is going to wamt Walkinshaw to do upgrades on his Mustang, especially when there are a million other suppliers who don't blow goats like FRPP, Saleen, Rousch, Shelby American etc.

Maybe the theory is to capture the Holden fence jumpers when they switch to the Mustang after the fwd Commodore from China arrives
