Just putting two and two together here and predicting the outcome of fuel prices for those in Adelaide. I live close to the water and on a daily basis observe the number and types of ships awaiting entry into Port Adelaide. Knowing that Adelaide only has 7 days storage capacity (minus petrol stations), the last fuel tanker (MuLanWan) is currently being offloaded in the Port, and the ship tracking website showing no full tankers within a few days of Adelaide, then todays prices of $1.49 a litre wont be around in a few days.

I don't bother looking at price anymore, when I need fuel I put it in and I'm happy when its under $100 for a tank.

I filled up on Glen Osmond rd this arvo.
Was about $1.65 but that's 98 tho. Sounds MAD but I'm always pleased to fill up when it's under $1.70. Cars not an everdayer so I can usually hold out. LPG for the van is a killer at over 90cents. |

I wish I could buy fuel for $1.49.
Last Diesel I bought was $1.65, last 95 unleaded was $1.75 |

Its incredible that Adelaide fuel supplies are allowed to get down to such low levels. The last tanker has just unloaded at Port Adelaide, and by my guesstimate, its maximum load would have been approx. 1/2 of the daily use of South Australia.
Using the following ship tracking website- http://www.freightmetrics.com.au/Mar...3/Default.aspx Theres no ships coming along the bottom of the western australian coast to resupply Adelaide, and nothing yet has left Melbourne / or coming along the east coast headed for Adelaide. I have heard of Just in time delivery, but you must think that Adelaide sometimes just gets thru. |

That says RAA understands not legislation states....
I really don't see the point in stressing about the price of fuel, it is what it is and you have the choice of either pay the asking price or go without. There is stuff all we can do about it so just chill and hope more people buy hybrids and ecoboxes so there is more fuel for the rest of us. Don't get me wrong, I understand it's a major bill for people, it's no different for me at $100pw, but how many people drive to their local shops or park. If fuel prices are and issue then walk or ride more not only is it good for your wallet but your health too.

Just doing the sums. Asumming Adelaide requires approx. 6 per cent of the 1 million barrels of oil used in Australia each day. 60 thousand barrels a day equates to approx. 300 fuel trucks driving between melbourne and adelaide each day. Melbourne may have more fuel storage than Adelaide, but they also arent built to take Adelaides requirements into account. You do realise that if 450 fuel trucks are spending a day and half driving between Melbourne and Adelaide, then they arent delivering to Victorian fuel stations.

To my knowledge most of the oil company's changed to JIT for their stock some time ago. It was something to do with taxation I think.

Everything is JIT these days, works fantastically when you have a good relationship with suppliers but when its not so squeaky clean it turns to **** really fast.

JIT & the casuallisation of the workforce is not beneficial to a healthy economy or workforce.
It only suits a businesses bottom dollar & that seems to be ALL that matters... |

$22 gets me 14 liters of bp98, and that lasts me a week and a half. I commute daily on my motorcycle. I keep my xr6 turbo for the long trips. You dont like the price of petrol, dont buy it, or buy a motorcycle. The amount of cars i see on the road in peak hour, with only one person in it, makes me laugh.

I paid a bit over $110 for fuel this morning. I think it was $1.75/L, I still pay more per L for my morning coffee.

Just a heads up - many of those cars did not leave home with one person in it. Can't use a motorbike to drop a couple of kids and bags and sports gear to school before heading in to work.
