Default Ford Colour Names

I always get a laugh when I see the creative names the boffins come up with for the colours or cars. Ford is no different and here a few that come to mind.

BF wagon in "acid rush" I'm thinking one of those paint jobs where it changes colour from every different angle, very cool and trippy, nar..... It just mustard.

SZ Territory in "vanish" Wow stealth paint on a Territory, could be dangerous in traffic, and the colour is........ dark blue, not even sky blue.

I'm sure others can come up with plenty more.

Too busy thinking of cool paint names (which bare no resemblance to their actual colours) hmmm

rather than

"engineering the car better"

maybe we should call Ford Australia team "Acid RUSH"

How about "Pearl Green" in the EA range. It doesn't look green at all!

They had make 'different' names, as 'Menace' sounds better than Mauve and 'Toxic' sounds better than Lime Green etc

Yes, Australian Ford color names baffle me.

But now they're starting to do it in the US, too. The 2015 Mustang offers a color called "Guard." It's dark green. They don't call it "Guard Green," though--it's just "Guard."

The Mondeo (worldwide) is available in Brisbane Brown.
There are a lot of places in this wide brown land of ours that I think of before I think of Brisbane!

I always assumed, without thinking too much about it, Nitro was referencing the flame colour from the headers of a nitro funny car or fueler. But nitro flames are yellow.

I'm with you Launch I like the creative names too.

But never understood the meaning of Neo to describe the blue on my Territory, or Dash as the green on my FG.

I still think that Ford has a long way to go before they match the Leyland names back in the '70's

Maybe this might be why they called the blue nitro?

That and the fact N2O bottles are typically that shade of blue?

Which, along with the red label was probably chosen because of CPK...

Polynesian green, a colour made for Polynesian people maybe, not sure why else Ford would name a colour after an ethnicity

I like the names for the Interior colors like Steel Glaze. I think the Ford designers must be fans of the movie Zoolander. Maybe it's just me but it reminded me of Blue Steel when I first heard it.

Polynesia is an area, not an ethnicity, as far as I know. I think there are many different nationalities within that region of the Pacific ...

Ford beat 'Zoolander' by about 25 years - 'Blue Steel' was an XC colour!

Ford has nothing on Toyota's "Big Bad Orange"

(yes its orange, at a similar time they had a green that was well... equally as ... bad)

I've always loved 'most' of the ford names and colours.
I love my EGO (better then grey silver) G6 falcon.

I even named one of my chickies Havana....after that nice bronzey brown premium colour hey had. Love it

Some great names there but Holden didn't do too bad a job in the 70's either with such classics as ...

Plum Dinger
Yellow Dolly
The Lone O'Ranger
Bluey (which was red)
Lettuce Alone
Strike-Me-Pink
Purr Pull
Nipple Pink

Cheers

So I think this thread has shot down claims ford has lame names, well compared to what's been posted here. Acid rush and vanish sound extremely normal compared with nipple pink or home on th range.

Ford should have called Red Pepper 'Acid Rush'... Be it parked in the shade, in your shed, under lights at the servo, cruising on a sunny or overcast day, the car changes colour like a Chameleon.
