My speedo intermittently just drops to 0. This is apparently a common problem solved by replacing the vehicle speed sensor so I've ordered a new one.
I was wondering where exactly the speed sensor is located. I don't have the new one yet so I can't directly compare the part, but I'm assuming it looks like this picture. There are some pictures of it's location on various non-fiesta models however there are no pictures which show the location for mine (2005 Fiesta WQ 3-door). Before I waste a lot of time can anybody tell me if it is on the driver's side or the passenger's side? Is it is close to the front or the rear (firewall side)? I suspect it is on the passenger's side beneath the area covered by the battery. |

The vehicle speed sensor is mounted on top of the transmission, above the left hand driveshaft.Your picture of the sensor is also correct.
Note,if your car has ABS fitted, then vehicle speed information is derived from the ABS wheel sensors and a vehicle speed sensor is not fitted. |
