Mondeo hasn't been advertised for sometime.Falcon comes to an end, Mondeo ads start !! Coincidence? No way can the Mondeo replace the Falcon..

To be honest, I think the market has moved on from these type of cars... Even I'm starting too. So a bit suprised to hear there are ads for them.
I was checking out the new model Tiguan and the salesman was saying even though the Passat is better value and a lot bigger than the Tiguan no one wants them over a SUV. |

I'd go a Mondeo as long as there was a Ranger/ Navara type car in the family. Drove one in the States and they're a very nice piece of kit.

Ford will likely tell you that they haven't been pushing the Mondeo due to supply issues from the factory. I had to wait seven months for delivery of a Diesel Hatch.
When I took delivery of my car in early June a salesperson told me that they were expecting that supply of the Mondeo would free up in a few months. Cooincidentally about when Ford ceases manufacture of the Falcon. I don't buy into the whole SUV concept. For my purpose I am unable to see their advantage over a vehicle like the Mondeo. |

It will replace the falcon in some aspects. Its the same size, has 4 doors and seats 5. It will also tow your boat or caravan...
It will replace it enough in lieu of a direct replacement.

I wish there was a more sporty option of the Mondeo. Something that makes it standout from the others

unfortunately it looks like there will be a gap in Ford tow capability between the 1600kg of Mondeo and the 3000kg+ of Ranger/Everest. Even if Edge comes I don't imagine it will have anything much more than Mondeo.
for a non-tow car the Mondeo is awesome and IMO beats Falcon hands down - if only because of wagon/hatch options |

Nobody wants the Mundano. The Japs and the Koreans have this segment stitched up, there is no point fighting . In the States the latest Fusion (their local name for the Mundano) is a rare sight compared to the ocean of whitegoods current gen Camries, Sonatas and Kia Optimas.. The new Exploder however is an absolute Gem. Drove one for 3500 miles across the U.S. at speeds of up to 130MPH and its handling, performance and manners were impeccable. The interior is very Unamerican and looks like something Ford Aus would have designed as Territory Gen2 if given the funds . Previously I thought this type of performance and refinement were only heard of driving an X5 or a Territory, but the yanks have definitely come a long way since the early 2000s. A bit of Australian input in the works perhaps..

I'm very anti-SUV, especially stuff like the smaller crapola, Mazda CX3 et al.
Its just a jumped up Mazda 2 that handles, goes, stops worse and uses more fuel than the Mazda 2. |

Previous Gen Fusions (with the triangle AU-ish lights) are bloody everywhere, and by goodness they are very Ugly. F-Trucks and 2005+ Mustangs dominate the roads by a large margin. Explorers, Edges and Escapes are everywhere, and the GM SUV's and pickups and Chrysler/Jeep products of all sorts are well represented on the roads. Focus and Mondeo seemed less common. Strangely Taurus isn't real common, apart from police and emergency use. The Holden Commodore was an absolute failure in the US, I can count on one hand how many I saw in the US in 3 weeks.

With so many vehicles that can tow 3000kg now, why is it even been discussed that the Mondeo only has 1600kg.
Why would you even consider towing a Van with a sedan when there are better options.

That's because people are sheep; all they see are dollar signs and aren't prepared to pay more for a better product.

Go to any caravan park or boat ramp, and its Hiluxs or Land Cruisers. At least the option is there though.
