My dad last week turned 98 He has moved into a retirement village, and out of his 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom 2 storey house that he lived in on his own.
He says the hardest part is seeing all your friends go and although there is still family they are different, (aint that the truth!) He is looking forward to waking up one morning and find he is no longer breathing, seriously those are his words. He is healthy, has his drivers licence for day time driving, all his teeth, hair and wicked sense of humour. But happy to breathe his last.

Dunno, existing gets tiring after about 25 to 30 years, you basically experience everything that life has to offer by then, except perhaps growing old, parenthood, married life which are arguably experiences one could do without and not really miss

Wow they saw a lot in that time. 117 years, **** me dead that is old.
I'd doubt anyone who lived to 100 years from now would see anywhere near close to the changes they did. There is no way I'd want to live that long. No way I'd make that anyway |

From my personal perspective, you NEVER stop experiencing and learning new things! The world is continually evolving, as we also evolve on life’s journey! Give you another 20 or 30 years after your balls drop, and I bet you’ll have a totally different outlook on “experience”?

Imagine experiencing the birth of mass manufacturing, two world wars, the great depression, the cold war, hippies, the Vietnam war and then the birth of the internet. This one lived through the greatest period of human development and witnessed things we can only read about. Amazing.

I think to survive as a civilian of a defeated WWII nation is good going. Persecution was rife after the war, particularly in Europe. But to live through all that to where they are now would be amazing. Also to witness first hand two Atomic bomb drops, the fighting at Okinawa, etc.

30, and don’t like the modern post 2000 world at all, with its political correctness, terrorism, overregulation, exorbitant ever increasing cost of living, high stress and fast paced existence. Wouldn’t wish such an existence on my worst enemy, let alone my children. Maybe i’m shortsighted but can someone explain exactly what is the bright side of modern life ?
