Default Sat Nav

I have a 2015 Territory with a built in Sat Nav
I tow a caravan and find it very helpful when looking for a town location or getting out of a town
But when going from one town to another it finds a route that often takes me to narrow country roads or even dirt roads to get to my location
With a caravan behind this is not a good option
Is there anything in the set up that will allow me to only use major roads
Thanks in advance Regards Alan

I think this would depend on the system you have. With mine I can specify which roads I want to avoid ie: Toll roads, minor roads and dirt roads.

Have you tried installing Waze on your phone and giving that a shot?

Avoiding dirt roads is a navigation option, always up to date, tells you where the fuzz is hiding and free.

Thanks for your reply
My Sat Nav has the options Fastest, Shortest or Eco Route
Mine was set on Shortest which I guess means using any road possible
I have reset it to Fastest which I hope will keep me on major roads
It also has the option to avoid freeways, toll roads, ferries, car trains and tunnels but this option has always been off

The unit I have in FG ute is from ASL Automedia (forum sponsors) I can tick what roads I want, so dirt roads I eliminate,
I live on a dirt road and no sealed roads for 20k that creates little (female) hissy fits from the GPS it wants to have meltdowns.

Does your GPS settings allow for different vehicle types or vehicle size measurement settings.

Eco route options usually keeps you on decent roads, usually shortest and fastest routes will take you on any road or track that is available.
