It’s somewhat fair cop IMO, our biosecurity is in a parlous state and it seems nobody is particularly on the ball. Agricultural dependability (eg, food security) is absolutely more important than getting a new car.

100% agree, getting a new car is nowhere near as important as maintaining our strict biosecurity rules. Doesn't take much for it to go horribly wrong if they start cutting corners, which I don't think they will do.

It begs the question, why isn’t there investment in high speed car washes that can spray insecticides for stink bug or chemicals for seeds, these bio threats aren’t going away.

You'd need poison/irriadiate the entire car to guarantee everything is killed or sterilized.

They would have known long before it came into effect it was going to require extra work, but did nothing to cater for it. Blind freddie could have seen this coming. Apparently they are panicking now and trying to bring on more employees to cater for it. Should have been done months ago. |

There are issues getting staff. The rules around Covid vaccinations, people have gone to other employment where they don't need to be Vaccinated.
A guy I work with his wife is critical care Nurse at a large private hospital that has an emergency department 6 of her colleagues from her shift refused to get Vaccinated and quit. They are doing other jobs and have no intention of returning to the Health Sector. A family member was a Medical Specialist he retired two years earlier than planned as he did not want the Vaccine. A mate works in the Building Trade they have two former Paramedics working as Builders Labourers and have no intention of returning. They don't have to work shifts and put up with all the other crap that went with their old jobs. |

It is a legitimate reason. If a requirement of a job is to be vaccinated the people who are not vaccinated they cannot be employed.

something wrong in Aus when there is a car carrier ship arrives every 3rd day in Auckland, and all cars shifted before next boat or so I am told. I know the new mayor is very shirty about all freight on main wharf when it could be turned into thousands of little ticky tacky apartments.

Mt Brown Auckland s new mayor is a tosser.
Yes Rockwiz on the money. But Auckland doesn’t have a local second port option called Botany Bay. Auckland port will be round a very long time. |

Other than hospitals, nursing homes and health workers and a few govt departments you tell us what private business is enforcing covid vaccines for employment as of now?

Brown made a fool of himself with the mishandling of the Auckland weather bomb. Hipkins is the opposite from a long way away kicking goals even my national Voting friends in Hawkes Bay are pleased with him. |

Companies are still asking for vaxx status during interviews though. Heard a few cases of that recently with a friend who was looking for a new job. Makes no sense either. I'd still like to know how it is legal/appropriate to ask people for their private medical history. It never has been in the past, but since covid it's magically appropriate now apparently. |

so we’re in a completely different place compared to 2020. The average 7 day deaths is now really low this month, last thing we need is infection on imports, so annoying that wash down protocols have to stay because Asia can’t seem to control the spread… |

It's certainly screwing up my work! we have donor units for critical prototype builds tied up in this queue. In fact we are now flying cars in to jump to the front of the quarantine queue at >$100k a pop!

I know of plenty of drivers who've had covid on top of existing respiratory/pulmonary histories. We deal with large groups of international visitors everyday fresh off inbound flights and cruise ships. I think you'll find its more to do with getting people to work in quarantine cleaning than facilities, its **** work for **** coin at a time when jobs elsewhere are apleanty. |
