Default Metal power steering pulley needed?

Hi all how important is a metal power steering pulley on a stock ba turbo? I currently have one on a cheap eBay pump that's lasted just over a year on car now noticed pulley play....like rocking play not end float .

So want to use a genuine one from a wreck I have and gonna put a kit through it but wondering if I could swap pulleys over of just leave it.

I have herd of the melting the pulleys but how common is this??? Thanks
