I just bought a new dvd player for our very old school tv. The problem is the tv doesn't have the usual video in/out audio in/out plugs in the back instead the dvd player has to run through the vcr. This causes problems for several vcr's fading in/out (dark/bright) colour. Iv been told its due to running through the vcr to avoid copying onto tape. I tried it on another newer tv with the audio/video plugs in the back and all dvds work fine.
Does anyone know how to get around this? Im thinking the only options is to buy some sort of box that makes up for the missing plugs in the back of the tv (not sure if it even exists), or is there a way to burn dvds and remove this security thing? : |

Not all dvds do it for me only some. The newer more popular ones seem to be the problem. Like the older movies and that are fine just when you get newer movies you get the problem :(

I had exactly the same problem, however my TV has an integrated video player. Well, I finally know why it did that.

When I was at uni I knew some people who were working on a small circuit to remove the (from memory) automatic gain control header from the video signal. I didn't find out whether they finished the project. The simple answers are to either upgrade the telly (you can get new TVs with av / scart inputs rather cheaply) or as mentioned before get an RF modulator.

It sucks that everyone has to suffer just so large companies can make a few extra bucks. Iv copied a few dvds and was wondering is there anyway when copying to remove this security feature some discs seem to have?

I mean the problem is not that they want to protect their own movies (which they whould) just that it affects us who have to run a dvd through a vcr. I mean they should expect many people to do that. Oh well new tv time :
Though i surpose for anyone who trys to copy a dvd on to a tape gets : Last edited by Duffman; 28-01-2005 at 08:07 PM. |

I can remember reading on another forum that you can run a black niko around the outside of the discs to hide the copyright protection.. Im not 100% sure on the hows and why's, unfortunatley the post was deleted before we could get all the info, any one heard about this method?
Admins: if this is not suitable just delete it

Just get a Macrovision decoder, Jaycar call them "video stabilisers" and have a warning: may remove some forms of copy protection ;)
