Default crap on windows

Hey guys....

I've had this residue on my windows which i cannot remove for the life of me, and its really starting to irritate me. It looks like some kinda of spray has hit the windows and then dried on, leaving little droplet like splotches. Windex, car wash etc does nothing, tried metho and water mix too. Dude in supercheap reckoned its the sealant they apply at dealerships, which when they spray the cars, runs down onto the windows and then dries there.

Today I tried heavy duty truck cleaner, which still hasn't done much, although removed some of it.

Anyone else had the same problem and found a solution that works? (pardon the pun)

Cheers, Jono

Try Prepsol - it pretty much gets rid of anything. If that doesn't work, have you tried a blade/scraper?

They sound like they could be water marks ( like spots / small round rings, that are left from the mineral deposits somrtimes found in water ),

If so try using a clay bar as an option ( take your time and be patient ) if little / no success here then try scrathx or a paint cleaner gently on the affected areas.

If they are deep etched water marks you may need to have a Pro Detailer look at the glass for you.

Moving forward to avoid this have handy a good quick detailer ( for paint ) and glass clnr with a few clean cloths and hit any drops of water that would otherwise sit on your car.

Pete

Sounds as if your car has received some overspray from a backyarder or factory. The prepsol or claybar will do the trick thinners is to risky around paint & extreme care should be used if using thinners. Somtimes WD40 does the trick.

Yep - it's a grease and wax remover. Also removes tar - but don't let it sit on paint, or rub too hard on paint, as it will remove the paint!

Hi guys,
There is also a product called "Acid Rain Remover" which gets most things out.
Try your local chemical maker or Glass Guy.

I had like a waxy type droplet effect all over the left quater panel of my camry. Nothing would get it off, so mum hit it with that white pasty type thing thats used for getting marks off walls, and a non scratch scourer, and it took her an hour, but it eventually came off.

Clay - to remove environmental contaminants such as fallout, acid rain, sap etc and prepare the surface for polishing, glazing and or sealing (protective coating)
Door rubbers - clay first to make them smooth, then you will need a very strong oxidation remover
Don't use prepsol for this
Most rubber cleaners and protectants don't have the grunt to remove this and the black coating it leaves usually gets burnt off by the sun or simply fades
