Depends what you are using it for ... if it's for work purposes (like myself) .. Number 1 is out.
I have only dropped mine 1.5" all round ... but i still need a bit of clearance though. To retain good handling I'd get a set of decent lowered springs (leaves as well) with good gas shocks all round as well.

Well i have the pedders ones in mine sports rider and back it re-set with one extra leaf to make it even think is 2 inch lower then the std tickford one. but the ride is still soft as. i also have a ef futura and the ute is softer at the front then the ef, leaf spings always a bit tougher.

I know you can get coil overs for the front, but last time i looked into it (12months ago) Airbag setups for AU utes werent available in kit form and were custom made to suit the application, hence very very $$$$. I spoke with Burnin Customs and a few others about this.
I ended up with Kings super low coils and kings leafs to match. Selby 32mm sway bar front Selby 28mm sway bar rear Camber/castor kit (aggressive alignment) Pedders GSR shocks (POS shocks upgrading to koni's eventually) Nolothane everywhere. 245/40/18 rubber End result it handles like its on rails, very predictable and progressive. Balance leaning to oversteer but only just, stays pretty neutral. Shocks are the weakpoint and need changing. Plenty of grip available in acceleration/braking and cornering. Ride height with kit is low, but still able to get up driveways etc. And have never had it scrub on a dip even at pace. Thats in a XR8 so a I6 with less weight over the front would be a touch better again with the same gear under it.
