Default The Carsales Auto Deprecation Game ™

I misread the title of the thread, The Ebay Auto Depression Game™

So I came up with the The Carsales Auto Deprecation Game.

It is easy to play;

1. Go to http://www.carsales.com.au

2. Find your exact car if you can or it's closest match.

3. Weep profusely as you realize what your car is worth now.

That is unless you have a XR6. I brought my car s/hand in October last year and it's actually worth the same or more! I paid $30K , now the exact same car is worth an average of about $32K. UNBELIEVABLE, never expected that.

Stuff shares - invest in a Ford.

My last car, manual 2002 Nissan S15 200sx GT Spec-S (mouthful innit!) - this one is a different colour, and doesn't have the mods mine had, but it is the cheapest example of the manual Spec-S GT for sale privately...
$27,900 (I got more for mine very easily, first to see DID buy!)
http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsa...ch_distance=25

And the current ride.. Golf MkV 2.0L TDi DSG.. only one example on carsales, can you believe (looks like people just hold onto them!). This one is a different colour as well, and has leather (mine don't).
$38,900
http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsa...ch_distance=25

Pretty chuffed with the resale on both these models - especially in the current 2nd hand climate!

How about a Tickford fairlane only being worth $12 000 now.
After paying $70 000 for it and only being 109 made.

Yeah, there is little intrinsic value in the locally produced cars after a few years. What you really need to do if find a relatively rare car that will be forever popular - for instance, I'd say the Phoon would have an "okay" resale in 3-8 years time, GT and GTP will flounder, and the XRs will go, well, just like every other XR before them - crap.

2001 AUII Falcon XL SE Ute 4.0 4 spd auto

Private - $15,000.

What I got it for - $15,990

Not bad with deprication, it's dropped $990 in the year I've had it, but the money spent on mods and what the bank is earning on interest...

Well, check it out yourself;
Ford Falcon XR6 MKII 2005 Sedan

Not that I think I would get that much if I were selling it, just at what people are paying now at dealers.
