Default Most Depressing Song Ever Written

Ok, I just finished reading a book by Tom Reynolds titled "I hate myself and want to die" (The 52 most depressing song's you've ever heard). A very funny book indeed, I can think of one song that does not make the book, it is a horrible song from Dolly Parton called "Jeannie's Affraid Of The Dark".THis morbid song is about a little girl called Jeannie and as the title say's she is affraid of the dark one day she ups and dies on her mum and dad so they but a eternal light at her grave site because Jeannie's affraid of the dark. How I hat that song, my sister used to play it over and over when I was growing up. The question What is your most depressing song ever?. Don't cry in your beer thinking about it, you'll be waisting a good beer.

Cheers John

Probably Lagwagon's sad astronaut (about former drummer who killed himself early 2004)

We have that book too!! I haven't read all of it yet, but we almost wet ourselves reading his review of nine inch nails and the cure... Pitty he missed the mark a bit with Ben Folds Five's Brick.

As for the most depressing song...i'm not too sure, but Assemblage 23 has a pretty good song called Dissapoint, from the album "Failure". The CD is the artist dealing with the suicide of his father..

A quote..

"Did I disappoint you?
Did I let you down?
Did I stand on the shore
And watch you as you drowned?
Can you forgive me?
I never knew
The pain you carried
Deep inside of you."

"Suicide Is Painless" - By Johnny Mandrel

Its the MASH theme song, when lyrics are added they make you want to slash up.

Nearly any Morrisey/Smiths song.

Or the version of Dumb on the Nirvana unplugged CD.

The lyrics from it are inscribed on Kurt Cobain's grave.

Anything by the current crops of blokes who sing with acoustic guitars or something similar.

The likes of Jack Johnson (John Jackson, whatever his name is), James Blunt, Pete Murray. Just don't like them.
